Need advice . . .

So - I know it's been nearly an eternity since I've been on here, but I've just been dealing with a helasious year so far.  Before the year started it wasn't so great either.

I know I posted last fall when DH lost his job and I think I may have posted when DH had his little mishap with the clothesline and the staples back in late October or November - or whenever it was.  Not sure if I ever said anything in November, but he found a job then.  Still it just seems like one thing then another then another!  It's like we have lost our normal or something.

Christmas Eve we had an incident with my dad.  He's older, in fact he's going to be turning 80 in a month.  Well - without going into all sorts of detail - he suddenly passed out at the kitchen table - meaning - all the sudden his head just slumped.  We thought he was having a heart attack, stroke, something!  Long story short - we ended up calling the EMS and spent the evening in the ER.  Nothing was ever found - just low potassium levels.  But still very traumatic for my family.

Jump ahead a few months - DH started acting strangely.  Just not himself - He takes meds for seizures.  He ended up having a seizure in March, which was the first I've witnessed ever.  That turned out to be - his medication levels being off with him being on generics instead of Name brand meds.  Who knew?  He's been on the name brand stuff for just over a month now, I believe.  He's back to himself - so that's good.

Amidst all of that - I've gotten a few unneccesary write-ups at work.  I know this probably sounds weird - but I feel like it's just because they didn't want to give me a raise at annual review time.  I just don't know though.  I got my review and I ended up with a great review, but when it came down to the raise thing it was just like - Oh, you got those write-ups so it just wouldn't be right to give you a raise, blah, blah, blah.  The write-ups were totally unneccesary and - me not wanting to be the boat rocker - just accepted it and moved on.  I've had co-workers tell me I should fight it - but I just didn't see what good would come of it.

Now, this past Wednesday DH comes home from work way early like a few hours after he left for work and tells me he just got laid off.  So - now he's unemployed again.

So, now it's time for us to tighten our belts again.  I was on here within the last few weeks or so and I just lurk anymore because I feel totally out of the loop.  But, I saw someone say something about streaming your TV through your internet?  I was interested to see how that was done.  DH are trying to cut corners in whatever way we can.  I believe he's going to be able to get unemployment again - but, of course, it's not going to be as much money as he was making.

Re: Need advice . . .

  • Wow, what a tough year :( Sorry that you are going through all of that. We are planning to start streaming out TV. LTwas a great help with things... we have old crappy computers so we are buying a new computer specifically for TV purposes because ours barely work so we haven't started yet.

Post from before, has some helpful hints in it from LT and also info on coupons if you are interested in that.

  • I don't know anything about the tv stuff, but {{HUG}} I really hope things start looking up for you guys!
  • I don't really have any advice but I wanted to give you some support.  Hugs.  And I know we have considered cutting cable all the time, we thought seriously in getting HuluPlus.  It's not priced to bad.  GL and hugs.
