WWYD?

You're 33.5 weeks pregnant.

Your boss says if you need to start working flex hours in the office (and WFH other times) you can do it.

Meaning, some days work like 10-2 in the office and WFH in the AM before and PM after.

Do you take him up on it?

 Signed,

Mentally checking out.

Re: WWYD?

  • For me, it would depend on how I was feeling.  If I was feeling ok, I would go to work as much as possible otherwise I would feel like I was taking advantage of my boss' "niceness" KWIM?  With that being said, if you are MORE productive and comfortable at home, I'd do that.

For me, I'm way more distracted at home which is why I would stay at work for a couple more weeks but that's me.  How are you feeling and how is your productivity?

  • Well, if my boss said that I "need to start" then I'd see that as having no choice. But I'd either want to work 8-12 or 1-5 either at the office or at home. I sure wouldn't get anything done for two hours before or after work. That's a personal preference though.

I totally agree with all this.

  • Thanks guys, I def do not want to abuse it by any means. And it definitely wouldn't be everyday, that is for sure.

Like this week is pretty much out for instance, no matter how I feel. I have to give training Tues-Thurs everything day Tues all day, Wed in the AM , and Thurs in the am. I may be able to leave about 3 today, but there's no doubt I will work when I get home...I do not have a 9-5 and it just stops type of job. I may try to WFH on Friday completely, though.

And next week is a short week anyways since I have Fri off and need to WFH on Thurs anyways for a doc appt.  It's more I guess starting when I hit 35-36 weeks come to think of it.

  • Yea, I agree. I think I would work from home later on in my pregnancy depending on how I felt. GL with your decision. You'll do whats best for you and your family.

  • I think I would stick with regular hours at that point but would absolutely take advantage of the flex hours after about 37 weeks.

This would be my thought as well.

I'm like Ashley, I am much more distracted at home.  Also, I think being busy and at work those last few weeks (especially since I was overdue) helped keep my mind off wondering and worrying when the baby would arrive.  Granted, I was lucky to feel really good physically all the way until the end!
