It's Monday...again

We had a good but busy weekend. I'll be so glad when next weekend is over and we don't have to go anywhere til July! My niece had a good birthday party yesterday and my arms got a little red. I did really good with my diet all weekend so yay me!

I have a meeting this morning and then I'll clean up my speech room and start packing it up. Tonight it'll be gym and cooking some kind of chicken but that's about all I've got.

Oh we might get a puppy since someone idiot left 3 adorable six week puppies on the side of the road and the girl who rescued them can't keep them. We shall see on that though.

 How was your weekend?

Re: It's Monday...again

  • Why does Monday keep coming so quickly? I barely did anything this weekend. Friday night H and I watched the series finale of Smallville. He had watched the first couple of seasons and stopped but once he heard they were ending it, we've been trying to catch up with dvds. I was not impressed. You could tell they were planning on another season at least.

Saturday I did all of my cleaning and we went to the grocery store. I had spent a ton of money at Costco on Friday so I tried to keep grocery shopping to a minimum. I was supposed to go out with one of my friends but I ended up getting a migraine and just stayed in bed instead.

Sunday I went back to the grocery store to get popcorn and ended up spending $23. Damn it! I did a bunch of baking, lemon poppyseed muffins, granola and chocolate cupcakes with caramel filling and vanilla buttercream icing. I barely slept last night at all. I went to bed at 10 because I was exhausted and woke up every hour to turn over. At 2 I woke up and couldn't fall back asleep until close to 3:30. I'm pretty sure around noon today I'm going to fall asleep at my desk.

I don't know why but I can't get comfortable anymore. I'm hoping its just because it was pretty hot last night, not because we need a new mattress. I really don't want to spend any money right now.

  • Yay! A puppy!

I've been here for a zillion years and it's only 8:34. Monday. Hate.

Another busy weekend. Out with friends Friday night (MFD was bartending and all of his tips went to Relay For Life). Viewing, breakfast out, errands, cleaning, and my cousin's fake wedding reception Saturday. Sunday a visit from friends from afar, catching up on some TV, cooking, reading, and unfortunately working on powerpoint.

My summer bedding is on, so that means it should get cold sometime this week.

Four day work week for me!

  • Nichole, when you bake a lot, what do you do with it? Keep it, take it to work, give it to family and friends? I want to bake more but my fat a$$ does not need all these baked goods around. I want to have like 4-6 cupcakes at home, not like 12 or 24.

  • PUPPY!!!!!

also, stephanie, i just bought new summer sheets for our new bed this weekend on wicked sale (CA king for $50--400 thread count!) and I need to wash them tonight to put them on the bed.  we are just dying right now with the flannel...

quick but GREAT weekend.  got so much accomplished.  and also had time to sleep in late with the mr. and go to brunch and relax as well.

watched black swan last night.  most fvcked up movie EVER.

  • My weekend was lonely, but okay overall. DH is out of town, so it's just me and the dogs. Couldn't go to my waitress job Saturday b/c I didn't have a voice. Pretty sure it's allergy related. It's also been rainy and crappy both Sat and Sun, so I couldn't do anything outside like I had hoped. Worked on and finished the etched bashing dish set for my cousins' wedding at the end of the month now it just needs some kind of wrapping and it can be shipped sometime later this week. Yesterday I didn't do hardly anything except work on the quilt top I abandoned forever ago. Was pretty proud of my progress. Was excited DH and I figured out how to google video chat from my computer to his phone, that was kinda neat. Working a sub job in the afternoon today, and hopefully I can mow our lawn tonight now that it had time to dry out finally. Don't want to add another thing to DH's to do list when he gets home tmw night. :)

  • Tired as usual.  Went to MIL's house as per our usual Sunday routine (after taking 4 loads of furniture shiit to Goodwill).  Got up there around 5pm and didn't leave until 11pm.  Oops, didn't get into bed until midnight.  Alarm was rough at 4:43am

Friday night, I hung w/ the besties.  Wine, pizza, youtube and drunk phone calls from our hubbies in Vegas.  Good times.

Saturday I cleaned, did 8.4 loads of laundry, packed, had lunch w/ MIL and picked DH up from the airport.  He may have still been drunk.

Sunday was MIL's house and Goodwill.  Pretty productive weekend.  We scheduled carpet cleaners for the new house and movers for Saturday.  It's really happening..

Shauni-$50 sheets?!?!?!?! ;alskdjf ;alsijdf; ioj  Please share where!

Steph-I usually only bake when it's for an event.  Otherwise, you would see me on Biggest Loser

Tbears-have you always had allergies?  I've heard stories lately about people developing them as they get older...

  • It all depends on what I make. The muffins and granola are for my breakfast each morning so I'm hanging onto those. For cupcakes, I usually take at least half into work. The recipe I used made 12 but I'll still take in 6. Mostly because I can never seem to remember that I can't eat buttercream icing without my teeth feeling like they're rotting on the spot from the amount of sugar. H devours brownies really quickly so I rarely take them in. With cookies I usually only make a dozen or so and freeze the rest of the dough.

I have to admit, we end up throwing a decent amount of baked goods away. I made a cake for H last weekend for his birthday. We ate 4 small slices and then it just sat there for the rest of the week. I should have brought it into work but I kept forgetting every morning.

Bed Bath and Beyond!  I think they were not even on sale per say, they are just affordable!!  I should have bought two sets.

Also, i died laughing at the biggest loser comment.  when i bake, i make gerren take it to work after i have my sunday night helping of whatever it is a bake.  i cant even bring it to my work, because if i do, i will still eat it.

but since double dub, i havent baked except for once i made whole wheat oatmeal bites.  mostly i just ate the dough...

  • I'm not a super baker anyway, I'm a much better cook. I guess I could halve recipes when making cupcakes? I am not carrying cupcakes on a freaking train in to work.

    Very uneventfull weekend.

However, Saturday at work we lost power (at the restaurant) at like 3, I only work till 4 it never came back on that night. I feel bad for them since Saturday  was Lightning/Buins so they lost A LOT of money. Greg was on call case power turn on and they got busy. What really upsets me is we couldn't do our checkout so I am pretty sure I didn't get the right amount of money from my tips by at least $40 short and I'm sure there is no way to prove/get it back. The manger who put all the info in was not the one who was there. This really pisses me off.

Yay for a puppy! If Pierce wasn't such a spoiled only child we would have gotten another one after the wedding.

I love to bake but don't unless I have something going on because I don't want it at the house.

  • Friday night, I almost called the cops on the neighbors - there were 6 children outside playing in their front yard screaming and shrieking until just after 11pm.  I was cranky and they were driving me crazy.

Saturday morning was my sister's graduation.  We went out to lunch and then I stopped by the church carnival.  I was too full for funnel cake which was a bummer.

Sunday morning we had a bridesmaids' brunch where we finalized plans for the shower.  It went ok.  I'm still frustrated with the whole thing.  If I didn't love the bride so much, I'd seriously consider stepping down.  DH went and tried to get supplies at Home Depot to close up the hole in our kitchen ceiling.  He got some stuff, and will have to order others online.  He also forgot to get knobs for our cabinets and drawers - I demanded them after almost breaking a nail trying to get silverware.  Yesterday afternoon, I got around to making the first part of the decorations for the bridal shower cookies.  I think I'm going to make the dough one night this week, so I can roll and bake another night.  I'm really excited to see them all put together and decorated!

Oh, and I'm not looking forward to this week (or next week) of work.  Too much stuff going on, and the stress is really starting to affect me.  The rain is depressing too.  Just need to get to Friday!

  • Steph and Brew, I had something similar with my voice a few years ago, and I noticed when I left the older building I was working in, it got better. I swear there was something causing it in the walls or something. I have noticed things getting worse as I get older, but it's generally not 'regular' allergy symptoms, so most people just think I'm sick. When we first moved out in the country where we are now, I had a wicked bout of a skin reaction to something, (in the air I think). Actually went to an allergist for it, but was just told it was 'contact dermatitis' and to watch what I was touching or wear long sleeves and gloves. Um, not my idea of fun in the spring. Luckily, each year it has continually gotten less and less horrible, so I must be building up a tolerance. It sucks, I figure there isn't much I can do about it, so I just grin and bear it. :)

  • Things are sorta crazy right now.  My mom got engaged, and she's getting married at the end of August so we're scrambling to figure out travel plans (and sort of wishing we had more time to save up $1k for airfare).  I'm happy for her and I understand why they're going with this date, and obviously it's not about our convenience, but it's not a good time for us because of other time off we'd already scheduled.

My mom also let me know that my great-aunt, who I don't know, is pissed because she never got a thank you card for her wedding gift - I have no clue what happened there (either the mail lost it, or my mom gave me the wrong address), but I dropped another one in the mail this morning.  She was apparently already butthurt that she wasn't invited, so it was unlucky that hers didn't make it - and it makes me wonder if there are other people fuming silently.

We also found out that we have a graduation party to go to Father's Day weekend - just when I thought our weekends were freeing up!  I'm stressed out about work and ready to quit and/or punch my boss in the face for being such a moron, so I need to take a few deep breaths.

  • Shauni-love good sheets at a good price!

    Em- yes, puppy please!

Friday, I cleaned and did laundry. Went to the grocery store to get stuff for our saturday festivities. Then my mom called me and said she wanted to go to dinner but she is just about to get her hair done (it was already 7) so we didn't get to the restraunt until 9. It felt so wierd eating that late.

Saturday, I made reservations to rent a barge/pontoon boat for H birthday. So there was about 6 of us on the lake for about 5 hours. I got sooo sunburned. I didn't put suncreeen on until I was already red and it was a lost cause after that. Then we went home showered and napped for about 30 minutes then got ready for our friends house warming party. And I was so tired and miserable I made us leave at 10:30. I felt bad because he likes to spend time with his friends but I was miserable.

Sunday was H's official b-day so we went to lunch then barnes and noble for about an hour. My idea not his, but he stays in the magazine section so it's ok. Then we came home and he went and played disc golf with some friends. When he got home we ordered pizza and ate cake I had went and bought while he was gone. He was surprised!!

  • Good Morning.  A customer just called and pissed me off.  He placed an order late Wednesday afternoon so it didn't ship out until Thurday.  He paid for 2-Day air, which we did.  He called in this morning and wanted to know why he didn't receive it on Saturday.  Dude, if you want Saturday delivery you need to pay for it.  It is an extra option that UPS provides.  It's going to be a great day today.

  • Em- Yes a puppy!  Stupid jacka$$ who left them on the side of the road.

LTB- You just reminded me that I've been a lazy a$$ and haven't been baking recently.

Tbears- Allergies suck.  DH has allergies that developed as he got older.

Brew- We too will be making a trip to Goodwill to get rid of a bunch of crap.  That is unless the women's shelter takes clothes donations.

  • I still don't understand how Monday came so quickly.

Shauni-you make me want to get new sheets, even though I have no reason to do so. But i love the way they feel.

My weekend started out really well then went straight to crap. Friday night we went out for happy hour with my co worker and had a great time drinking mango mojitos and pretending that it was actually warm outside.

Saturday for the most part was good, I hung out with my BFF and we had pampered spa day an amazing dinner and went to go see Bridesmaids. Then while I was driving back, DH called to let me know that one of our friends (his softball buddy) had passed away. I knew he didn't lead the healthiest lifestyle, but I didn't think that something would happen so soon, he was 34. We weren't super close with him, but he was the guy that was ALWAYS at the bar when we went out.

Sunday we hung out since neither of us was really up for anything and it was a rainy day. Even though we were saddened by the loss, it inspires me to get healthier and stay in shape.

    Fourth Anniversary

Heeey-ooo!  Yes, I'm Bret Michaels this morning.

We had a nice weekend, brunch in SF with my friends on Saturday to celebrate an engagement, and I got to tell them that I'm pg, which was nice.  Tried to find a dress for the Memorial Day weekend wedding we're going to, but came up empty.  Decided to buy a dress on eBay that actually matches my BM dresses, because I think it's pretty and I'm hoping to get it cheap ($30ish).  Sunday we did some house picking up, watched Bridesmaids (love!), and then just vegged.

This morning we had our NT scan, which is a first-trimester ultrasound screening for Down Syndrome and other chromosomal defects.  The scan part was great, but my blood work isn't done yet, so the OB will have to call me when both parts are done to give me my final results.

The best part is we got good pictures of the baby, who cooperated today.  I'm going to try to scan at lunch, because there's one funny one where the baby looks like Predator.  As in, Alien versus Predator.  It's freaky, y'all!  H and I looked at each other when it came up, and as soon as we were alone, we were like, we're having Predator!  So that may be the new nickname.  Stick out tongue

She lives in Portland.  The cheapest tickets are $448 each.  Le sigh.  This, on top of a gift and a hotel room, and I admit I'm less than psyched to go to her backyard ho-down.  At least people got good food and booze out of my wedding (and I paid for my sister's plane ticket and she didn't have to stay in a hotel).  The wedding is on a Sunday, too, so we have to take at least one day off from work.

    Don't I sound thrilled?

We had been thinking about going out to visit my sister (and I guess my mom) at some point, until we realized how expensive it would be.  Now I'm telling myself it's a two-for-one deal (visit sister, go to wedding).  Plus my aunt, uncle, and 4 y.o. cousin who live nearby make the trip out pretty regularly and will be attending the wedding, so I would feel sort of shiitty if I didn't go, even though they are much better able to afford the trip.  It is my mom, after all.  I feel like a snob thinking it would be more 'worth it' for a 'real wedding', but I do - they're not even going to serve a meal.
