Just had my first mammogram

Um,  owwwweeee.  It hurt more than I expected, but at least it's over pretty quick.

My primary doc and OB both recommended getting a baseline scan done since I'm over 35, so there's something to compare to when I'm older and there's a higher risk.  I guess it's good to have it over with.  Anyone else had it done already?

Always missing my Mommy (1954-2010) and Daddy (1943-2012)
TTC since 2009 ; BFP 9/13/10 = MC 10/21/10
DX = DOR/POA (AMH=1.1; AFC=4-5)
Surprise BFP 8/31/11 while waiting to cycle for IVF
Welcomed our little miracle 5/7/12

Re: Just had my first mammogram

  • I have had 2 already. One for an issue I was having and one for a baseline. It's amazing how flat they squished my BB.

  • I haven't but am thinking about it now that I am 37.  Cancer runs rampant in my family.  Although Breast is the one type of cancer no one in my immediate family has- you never know.

    Apparently it is harder if you have little bitty ones like mine, because they have to stretch and pull you more to get them situated properly in the machine.  Lucky me.

  • Ick. I had my first done last year. Hurt like a motherfuucker. And it was amazing to see them spill my breast onto the glass. LMAO

    Don't worry too much -- it really is over very quick, and only one of the positions actually hurt (for me, at least).  You can do it!!

    I'll hold your hand but I'll leave the boob-holding to the professionals... this time.
