Ugh. We still have no idea what we want for our next car after DH sells his. I'm thinking a small - midsize SUV, decent gas mileage, leather seats (easy to clean with 2 hairy beasts), and decent in snow. When I go on all of the used car websites to search the cheapest matches are in the 15-17K range and DH wants to stay under 10K. I don't know if I want a sedan-style car.... This is hard man. :-/ We should see how much our monthly payment would be with a 10K vs. 15K car. We'd be putting about 5K down.
My research tells me that a 2006 Toyota Rav-4 is a good used SUV but those are more than 10K.
DH was convinced he wanted a Jeep until we checked the gas mileage on those puppies. No go.
I'm mostly just venting but if you have any advice I'm ALL ears. (Or all teeth in the following pic, which is not me. Hah.) ![]()
Re: Used car shopping is hard yo.
I say: Go for a Subaru Outback or a Subaru Forrester. Good for dogs, good for hauling stuff and they run really well. You could go for an older car and still get LOTS of mileage.
(DH says: Get a BMW wagon. LOL)
DH works on BMW's for fun - just drop it off in our driveway! LOL
I have an older Altima - I still love it. If it were my choice, I would totally get a newer one but DH still wants an SUV.
One thing I've noticed - if something breaks, the car still runs. Seriously. I had a broken axle for 3 years and we just got it fixed this past April. We've had no serious problems besides that and the normal maintenance stuff - replaced hoses, oil changes, etc... the normal issues for Nissans. DH hates changing the oil in it though so I just bring it to Jiffy Lube when I get a coupon in the mail.
The trunk is HUGE. The ginormous crate fits in it too.
Oooh maaaaybe. Is it good in snow? What color? Leather seats? What would you want for it?
E-mail me some info! tedandjenny @ hotmail dot com.
:-)
You got mail...as if you really needed to give me your addy when I have at least 2 for you. hahaha
I have a 2006 Altima and I love it. I bought it used when it had 25,000 miles and it's now around 55,000. I've only had to do regular maintenance and just replaced the original tires last month. It's also good in the snow for a sedan because it's a little heavier (I had a honda accord previously that wasn't as good in the snow). I will probably drive this car for a long time.
