Hi Ladies! Need Corolla info please.

We are headed to a beach house in Corolla for a week in June.....woooo hooo! Can't wait! We used to live in the RDU area but never made it to the Outer Banks, so this will be our first trip.

Have any recommendations for places that are a must try while we are there? Any places close we can buy fresh, local seafood every day?

Any things we should do, besides the beach, while we are there?

And does anyone know if the Harris Teeter in Corolla is a large supermarket, or a small, local one? If it is not a large one, is there a large one in the area?

Thanks a ton ladies!

Re: Hi Ladies! Need Corolla info please.

  • This is a great place to eat outside at sunset.  Its in Duck- which is not far at all.  http://www.fishbonessunsetgrille.com/ordereze/Default.aspx

Great for breakfast.  MIght be a little drive though.  http://stackemhigh.com/

Not sure if you are drinkers or not.  But kinda cool thing to do is to go to Brew Thru to pick up a case of beer. http://brewthru.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=main.showHome

  • We love the Outer Banks! We normally stay in Duck, which is the next town south of Corolla.

My absolute favorite restaurant is the Blue Point in Duck. If you want to go at dinnertime, you should definitely try to make a reservation. There is also a tasty Mexican place in Corolla (in the Tim Buk II shopping center) called the Bad Bean. There is a place in Duck that you can buy seafood called Dockside N Duck, but I'm sure there is someplace similar up in Corolla.

That HT in Corolla is a big grocery store - definitely not a small, local grocery store. You should be able to get your groceries for the week there.

As far as other things to do, I think you can get a tour north of Corolla to see the wild horses. I've never done a tour, but I was just reading about them recently and it sounds really cool. The Sanderling Inn has a nice spa. You could also drive down to Kitty Hawk/Nags Head one day to go to Jockey's Ridge, the Wright Brothers Memorial, or the Tanger Outlets (hehe).

    Have fun!

  • If you're looking for a casual pizza dinner, I'd recommend the Gingerbread House Bakery. I love their pizza.

We also enjoy taking the ferry over to Ocracoke.

  • The Harris Teeter is a large store. We make most of our meals in so I do not really have any restaurant recommendations, sorry.

  • We're heading there tomorrow! It's very exciting! A friend who grew up down there recommended Austin's Fish Market (http://www.austinseafoodco.com/) for fresh fish if you feel like making it yourself. It's in Nags Head, a little farther down the road from Corolla.

I hope the time before your trip goes by quickly; you'll love it there!
