I absolutely love reading and have going back and forth with possibly purchasing an e-reader. I know there are several different ones out there with the nook and kindle probably being most popular.
For those of you that own one, can you tell me what you like/don't like about it? Also, do you find that it is more expensive to get books? I usually buy all my books at half-price so I usually don't spend more than $3-$5 per book. I have no idea how to choose which one if I do decide to buy one because my first instinct is to buy whichever one is cheaper/on sale.

Re: E-Reader recs
I don't have one, but I really like the screen on the Kindle.
I love my Kindle, but choosing an e-reader is really a personal choice. Kindle users love the Kindle. Nook users love the Nook. This article sums up the features of each pretty well. Beyond that, I'd go to Target to check out the Kindle and B&N and check out the Nook and then decide which screen you like best, how the device feels in your hand, etc.
Book prices are still in flux. Public domain titles are free, so if you have a hankering to read the classics, you don't ever have to pay for a book. You can get a number of self-published titles for between $1 and $3. Occasionally Amazon and B&N will have sales and certain popular titles will be $5 or less, but in general a recently released book will be between $10 and $15.
I had a Sony e-Reader for a few years (bought in 2008) and my DH bought me a Nook Color for this last Christmas. I loved the e-ink on the e-Reader, but I love reading magazines on my Nook Color more. I would consider what you'd like to read. Newspapers are also available on the Nook.
New books are $12 (if they are available only in hard cover in the store). Paperbacks are between $3 - $5 depending on the book. I also get books via the RR library online and Nook share with friends.
I love love love having an e-reader. I always hated having books lying around after I finished them. There are a few books that I would read again and again, so I'd have to go to Half Priced Books all the time. Plus, being able to just buy a book while lying in bed versus having to go to the store is a huge bonus. Another bonus - being able to go on trips with just a slim e-reader holding all the books I could possibly need.
My husband bought me a Kindle for our anniversary last month. So far, I love love love it! I have gotten a lot of books for free through amazon. I have paid for a few books also but never more than $10. (Currently reading the Lincoln Lawyer).
This past weekend, I accidently forgot my cell phone at home. I used my kindle to check my email and get directions. Not the fastest connection in the world but it definitely did the job!
Thanks ladies for the input! Sounds like I have some more thinking (and playing!) to do.
LonghornBabe - I just finished the Lincoln Lawyer and it was really good! I hope you like it!
