obviously most of us take pictures all the time. I have a point and shoot that I love love love. But with a baby on the way I think its time we step it up to a big clunker to get some awesome shots. However I havent taken a photography class since college and I have no idea whats a good or crappy camera anymore with all of the new options.I am pretty brand loyal so Id like to only buy a canon or nikon- Ive found them to always take equally good photos.
So..for those of you with fancy cameras what do you have?
Do you only shoot in automatic mode? Or are you a little bit more experimental?
How did you decide which camera to purchase?
Did you purchase any extra lenses or accessories (besides a camera bag)?
Re: lets talk cameras
I've been researching for some time now. I think im going to take the plunge and get the Canon T1i with the kit lens (even though lots of people advise against it) and then also get a 50mm 1.8.
Im going to order it from B&H but may take a ride to Bergen Camera just to get some instruction and guidance. Let me know if you want to go one day.

Do you only shoot in automatic mode? Or are you a little bit more experimental? We play around with them - slowly learning all the tricks.
How did you decide which camera to purchase? We did some research and played around with some of our friends' cameras (we have friends in the business). We also had to use up expense money from my husband's fellowship - so our budget was pretty large. The quality of the photos that the Olympus Pen shoots are really not much different than the Canon, so it's a good camera for travel purposes, especially when you factor in the price differential.
Did you purchase any extra lenses or accessories (besides a camera bag)? We've been renting lenses for the Canon whenever we have a big occasion coming up. We haven't decided which lens we'd like to buy next.

I have always been a 100% Nikon guy and the Nikon D7000 has been getting incredible reviews. Not only does it have a nice 16MP sensor but it also shoots HD Video. If you can afford this camera, I would highly recommend it !
