I Didnt Know I was Pregnant...

I am watching this right now and I can not even begin to understand? It is just crazy to me! Am I the only one who feels this way?

Because I am still getting to know people and such is anyone here trying to conceive?

:) hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday!

Re: I Didnt Know I was Pregnant...

  • I think that show is full of sh!t.  I find it hard to believe that someone went an entire 36-40 weeks without thinking something was off!  Before I got my BFP, I could tell something was off with my body, and then combine the alien like movements that you could feel and see, there's no way I could mistake that for gas or whatever else the girls claim.

We are not TTC, my uterus is closed for business!  But there are a lot of girls on the board that are either KU or TTC.

  • I also don't understand how someone could be pregnant and not know it.  However, stranger things have happened!

DH & I are currently having fun and if something happens great.  However, we really plan to start trying in the fall.

  • Ditto the full of sh!t comments from others.  There is no way on earth you can mistake baby movements for gas...especially at the 7/8/9 month mark.

I am currently KU and will not be TTC #2 for a while after this one comes out!!

  • yeah it baffles me how these girls have no clue.  I know that having irregular periods is not that uncommon so going 30-60-90 days w/o one might not be too shocking for some, but going over 90+days... might be a little concerning.  the sad part is because they are so stupid about their own bodies, those poor babies don't get the prenatal care that they need.

Yes there are girls on here ttc (me being one) & there are also several girls that are either KU or have little ones.  :-)

  • I think if you had never been pregnant before, you might just think that something else is seriously wrong with you. However once you start to feel definitely kicks and get to the point where you can see the baby rolling around in there that is another story.

I know they say that every pregnancy is different, but what really confuses me is the chicks that already have a few kids that have no idea that they are pregnant. I don't get it.

I have a friend who didn't know she was pregnant until she was 7 months along. She thought she was dying. She had all sorts of gasto tests and such, but no one ever had her pee on a stick. She had been 'spotting' on a somewhat regular schedule and it was normal for her to skip a period here and there now and then so she didn't think anything of it. They were doing an u/s of her stomach and said "it's a boy!" and she was totally confused. We make fun of her all the time.

We aren't in TTC mode yet.

ETA: she was 7 months, not 7 weeks. Sleep deprivation, bah.

  • I hate to sound rude but I think the only women who may truly not know are on the larger side.  And I only say that because they tend to not gain as much weight when they're pregnant and it's harder to feel movement.

I do believe there are a handful of women out there who probably didn't know but I think a majority are in complete denial.  That last trimester - I KNEW I was pregnant because Dayne was doing a happy dance in there every five minutes and my belly would contort to odd shapes.  You could see where he was pushing his butt out.  I'm not sure how I would see that and think "Oh that must just be really bad gas."

My friend was one of the skinniest people I know. It just looked like she was getting some chub, not like a baby bump AT ALL.

Until she was 9 months?  I have a friend who is super skinny too and until she hit that 7 month mark you would swear she was only getting a little belly.  I'm referring more towards the end when you REALLY pop out.

I also had a friend who had twins and you wouldn't be able to guess it by looking at her!

She was 7 months along. At 7 months along it was definitely obvious I was pregnant and I'm on the larger side. Even when she went in to deliver she looked like she was only 6 months along. It was nuts.

  • Also if you have an Anterior Placenta it can be harder to feel the movement too since it cushions the blows a bit.

  • Looking back at my bump pics, I thought I was huge, but I wasn't big at 32 weeks, now 36 weeks I was a house! and I am skinny.

My friend had her baby a few days before me and she is 6 feet tall, and when she went in, she barely looked pregnant.  I told her she just looked like she had to poop.  Damn people with long torsos :)  And her baby was just under 9lbs.  When she came to visit me in the hospital, she was already back into her normal pants.

  • I can understand that if your not trying you might not realize it at first but how can you go 9 months and not know something is going on.  They have to be in some serious denial.

    Fourth Anniversary

I watch that show all the time and I never understand it!  A few months ago, a woman at work found out she was pregnant at 38 weeks.  She was not that big....and I saw her, it just looked like she had put on weight.  I don't understand how it can happen, but it happens all the time.

I am pregnant and sometimes now, I have to remind myself I am pregnant because I am experiencing no symptoms (excluding my growing belly).  But 1st trimester was a whole different story -- I don't know how you could ignore the exhaustion, morning sickness, bloating, etc etc.

  • I don't understand how someone could go full-term without knowing they were KU'd.  But after my sister-n-law recently found out at 24 weeks that she was KU'd and didn't know it, I can at least understand her situation.  It's a long story, but she saw numerous doctors and took a few different hpt's and all came back negative.  Turns out she had some other health issues masking the positive tests.  I guess it's possible.

I've been TTC for 7 cycles with no luck so far.  I will find out in the next week to ten days whether or not this cycle is yet another bust.

Sending good vibes to you! Give your body a cycle or two to recover from the stress of tax season. We were trying while we were getting ready to move/moving (3 times in two months!) and when we finally settled into our house I was KU the next cycle.

  • That show is just crazy talk to me. I guess I could see it through a certain point, but the ones that go into labor not ever knowing they were pregnant is insane.

I've been TTC #1 since 12/2008. Currently on meds and my next IUI should be next week.

  • Yeah it totally throws me off, I can not imagine being pregnant and not knowing it!

Good luck to you ladies ttc!  I am in the same boat, at this point kind of letting what happens happen and maybe if nothing does try temp tracking and such.

And the ones I watched the day I posted this were all super skinny, therefor it makes it really difficult for me to get it.

  • I work with a woman who didn't know she was pregnant with her third child.  She volunteered this information the day we met.  I am convinced that part of the reason she never noticed it that she wears stretchy (colored) jeggins everyday and they just stretched to accomodate her baby weight without ever feeling tight.
