Another baby update...

I'm still pregnant!  I didn't update you guys in my appointment yesterday, so I though I would for those interested.

I was 3 cm, 90% effaced and at 0 station.  The midwife stripped my membranes to see if that would help any.  I did start having contractions a while later but nothing significant and then everything stopped by the time I went to bed.

I have to say, I read all these horror stories (on the bump, of course) about how getting your membranes stripped was sooo painful but I didn't feel a thing.  I also have read birth stories about how ladies go into the hospital in so much pain only to find out they are like 4 cm and here I am at 3cm and didn't even know it.  Either I have better pain tolerance than I thought or I am in for a truly rude awakening once I hit real active labor.

Re: Another baby update...

  • I hope it starts progressing for you soon, and I appreciate the "it didn't hurt" comments VERY much. I, too, have read too many horror and pain stories on TB!

  • I said May 22nd, so I think BD should stay comfy :)  Perhaps your lack of pain are signs she wants to hang for awhile.  I was 4 cm when I went in for induction on the day before my due date, so we will see what happens.  SO excited for a new baby, pictures and a birth story Party!!!  No pressure!

  • If it helps, I wasn't in pain until contractions were on top of each other. That was 5 centimeters for me. I didn't have the pain that I imagined until transition. Time to do some squats and gentle lunges. Good luck!

    Ditto

I didn't really have strong contractions until I was already about 5cm with Jonathan. Even then they weren't anything I couldn't easily talk through (kinda like cramping). I think I was about 8cm before they really started coming and I was hurting.

And I was 4cm at one of my visits with Jeffery (#1), and I hadn't even felt BH at all! It's so weird how women's bodies work.

  • I think I said the 17th, so I guess I was wrong.

I thought the 17th as well (darn!).  DH's guess is the 21st.

  • I was talking to my doula on Thursday and she is pretty convinced that I was probably around 5cm when my water broke and just didn't notice the contractions because they weren't horribly uncomfortable.  They didn't become uncomfortable for me until about 30-45 minutes after my water broke.

I hope everything goes quickly and easily for you!
