Who has done a water babies class? Would you mind sharing where? If it's at the Y, do you have to be a member or can you just sign up and pay a higher fee?
I think I read that it's recommended to wait until the baby is at least 6 months old, correct?

Re: Water babies
We have done waterbabies at the Walnut Creek and Ankeny Y since Maddie was 6 months old. Like PP mentioned you don't have to be a member but as a non-member it will cost a bit more. I was NOT crazy about the class at the Ankeny Y and I LOVE the class at Walnut Creek.
Maddie loves them and it's great Maddie & Mama time!
Do you know how often they do the class? Urbandale would be very close for us!
We did the class in Urbandale, also. Here the schedule. I don't know if they do it in the summer or not. We just did the Level 2 in April.
We tried the Sat Morn classes at Ankeny and they shoved 12 tots and their parents in one lane...it was impossible to move around! At Walnut Creek we had 1/2 the pool for 12 tots and their parents. I SO wish that Ankeny wouldn't shove the class in one lane (so so so stupid) we are 1 block from the Y in Ankeny and would still prefer to drive to 73rd and University for a 1/2 hour class than be in 1 lane. I heard that the classes during the day, during the week are not that way, but I work.
We did this one also when K was 6 months old. Shea and I were in the same class. It was good for introduction to water, but I don't think it was an actual 'learning' thing (we had had him in other pools, and gotten the same response from him, so not sure we needed to spend the $, other than the fact that the pool was super warm!!!)
