Moms that work

If you don't mind me asking what do you pay your sitter? If you only have one child and know how much your sitter charges for 2 children if you could let me know that amount also, I would appreciate it. Do you supply food or does the sitter? TIA!

Re: Moms that work

  • My neighbor/friend just went back to work and she only has 1 child, but she is paying a girl that comes to her home $3.75 an hour, but once she moves into working full time she is going to just pay her a flat rate of $25 per day.  HTH!!

    Oh and she provides food.

  • I pay my sitter $25/day.  She provides food and drinks.  When R first started with her, I provided his food - mostly because I still needed that control - her rate was still the same.  When K starts there full time in August, we'll be charged $40/day.  Obviously, I'll provide her bottles (or formula if the time comes) and baby food.  I am not expecting her to buy baby food for my child since she doesn't have any babies herself right now.

She charges $30/day for part time (3 days/week).  Not sure of her 2 kid part time rate, I"m thinking it might be $50/day.

I have friends who pay anywhere from $30-35/day for one kid and $50/day for 2.  Their sitters provide lunch and snacks, so they bring their own breakfast.

These rates are all for sitters who watch kids in their home.

  • One kid = $3/hr, both kids = $5/hr. Sitter provides food (but I bring my own).
  • When the kids were at an in-home sitter all day, I paid $25/day for one and $35 for both full time.  I also paid and extra $20/mo to cover food costs.  She fed them breakfast, snack, lunch, and snack.  She also took DD to a.m. preschool and back for me.

  • I pay a flat $20 a day. She originally wanted $30/day but that was with food. I asked her about providing our own food and she said she'd do $20/day. I was providing milk/juice for a while, but she said not to worry about it and is now providing that. She does give him some of the food she makes here and there, which isn't a problem for me.

  • I pay $100 a week for each child at our sitter, so $200 a week/$800 a month.

I was hoping for a discount with #2, but no such luck.  She provides food too.

I might ask her for a discount in the fall since Alex will be going to preschool for 3 days a week for 2.5 hrs. each time, but she will be driving him there and picking him up, so for that convenience we might just keep it at the rate it is.

  • Ella only goes to the sitter like once a week but we pay $3/hr and I think that's what she charges per kid, I don't know if there is a discount cause I only have 1. For Ella we provide milk/formula but she is usually making lunch for the other kids while I am there so I think she provides everything.
