Re: Update on boss texting me when I am not at work

  • Definitely time for a new job!!
Don't worry about tomorrow. After all, today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. Take each day as it comes...one at a time. Midnight Baking Adventures Blog
  • Is there someone above your boss that you can speak with?
  • If your phone is not paid for by your company, I would tell her that you are on a limited data plan and would respectfully ask that she not text you anymore.  Either that or just block her number.

this  is the best way. I  had to  get a  little more forceful and  said that  unless they wanted to  pay for my phone plan, they  needed to  stop.   I, also,  spoke to  my accoutant and  atty ( for a different  non work issue)  and was told that   it could be  an  expense  for taxes.

This. I have had bosses call me outside of the office to ask me questions but not daily and if I wasn't able to answer it was no big deal. This is too much.

  • It could also be time for a conversation:

"Boss, I can't help but notice that you text me sometimes when I'm not at work.  Can you explain to me what your expectations are about what I should be doing with this outside of working hours?"

  • Just don't respond. You're not being paid for that time or the phone, so you do not need to respond to it.
  • Thanks for all the advice. I have tried not responding, but she texts the same message 2-3 times when I don't respond.

The other major issue is that she texts with stuff that can be handled by HER while she is at WORK.
