Unique name spelling

TT new job he is the purchasing manager for a store that sells teams sports (baseball, football, soccer) uniforms. Anyways he said he was helping the press because little league and all started and they were behind. Well he said a dad came in to get his daughters name on the back of her jersey. Her name is Madison and TT wrote it up just like that. The dad said no it has a "y" in it. So TT wrote it up Madyson. The dad said no is it Madisoyn.

Madisoyn....really?

    That's a huge pet peeve of mine.  I hate "unique" name spellings to begin with, but if you're going to do it, at least spell it in a way that gives it the right phonetical pronunciation. 

    I'm with you, Kel....the y after the o makes the last syllable "oin."

    It's hard not to roll my eyes when people ask me how to spell Lincoln. Really?? And the sad thing is I have heard of a girl (in the same town as I) who named her son Lyncoln. I'd like to find her and slap her.
