So my DD twisted her ankle friday after school waiting on her ride to
pick her up. It has been swollen all weekend. She had her dance recital
on Sunday and rehearsal for it saturday. She still went through swollen
ankle and all. I have been putting ice on it and trying to keep her off
of it but with a 6y/o that is a little difficult. Well i just got a
phone call from the school nurse telling me that she twisted it (she
didnt know it happened friday so this is actually a 2nd time). So she is
sitting in the nurses office with ice on it and her leg up. She said it
is swollen (still). I haven't taken her to the dr because there
really isnt much they can do and she is still walking on it fine most
the time. Now i am thinking i should maybe take her since it is still
swollen and she twisted it a 2nd time. What do you ladies think i should
do??[Poll]

Re: Poll: What should I do?
I would take her to the doctor and have them wrap it.
I would also have her stay off of it as much as possible - no runing around at recess, no dance, etc.
Luckily dance is over now. This past weekend was her recital and i was so torn on what to do. She has worked so have for 9 months and i really didnt want her to miss it. So i kept and eye on her at rehearsal sat to see how she did doing the dances (she was only in 2) and then decided about letting her do the recital sunday. She seemed to do ok so i let her go. She just started complaining about it hurting again last night. She didnt complain to much over the weekend and the swell did seem to start going down a little. Now i am just a little worried since she twisted it a 2nd time and she is in the nurses office because of it.

WOW! yea i think i am taking her. I told the nurse if she keeps complaining about it or ends up in her office again to call me and i would just come pick her up from school. So right now she is still in school until i either pick up from daycare or school. Then i will take her to P.F.

A lot of the patient first places have x-ray capabilities.
But yeah, you definitely need to take her in to see a doc, at the very very least, to make sure there isn't more serous damage than a simple sprain and to learn how to wrap it properly.
My Goodness...another food blog. Featuring: Macarons from a old post with a photo taken by my mom for a break from my crappy food photos!
They will do that at Patient first. It is an urgent care place.

Oh- I am not familiar w/ those urgent care places. I walked on a broken foot for 48 hours before I got it x-rayed and it wasn't even that swollen.
I'm surprised there's even a question of whether or not she should be seen. Of course she should go to the doctor.
