Groupon has a deal today for a 1-hour photo session with cd of retouched images from a local photographer. I checked out her website, and she looks pretty good. It says it's a $445 value (which seems high honestly), but it's on sale for $59. Would you buy this? We don't really NEED to have a photo session, but honestly the first thing that popped into my head was maternity pics. That's definitely a cart before the horse thing, especially since AF showed up today. It doesn't expire for a year, so if I'm not PG in time to take maternity pics we could always use it for an extended family shoot or something. IDK. I have BOTB, so maybe this is a little self-deprecating. Would you buy it?

Agree.

Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
I'm with this. Also look at how many have been sold. Many a DC Nestie has been pissed off because a photog has over committed and it is impossible to get all of the session in on time.
Stand up for something you believe in.
Yeah, I tend to follow these types of beliefs.
Same reason I haven't bought anything BR.
Agree! I am not sure if it would jinx you but its worth it!
This is a good point. She's at 79 already. That seems like a lot. Although, I wouldn't be using it until much later in the year. I might check back later in the day to see how many have bought it.
I went to her website and looked at the maternity and baby pics. She does really good work. Although, I'm feeling more depressed about AF now.
It could be a good birthday present.
I'd buy it. Like others said, that photo session might come in handy whether you're pregnant or not. Did you ever do a Rock the Dress shoot? You could always do one of those! I loved doing mine -- the shots were better than our wedding pictures.
One thing though: read the terms and conditions of that Groupon carefully. If the photographer overextends herself, like Mary said, and can't fit in a session before the expiration date, will she still honor the session even once the Groupon's expired? (She most certainly should, but I'd double check. Or even send her an email and see what she says.)
You know, I don't know that the $445 is that extreme. A lot of local photographers around here in Omaha charge between $150 and $250 for a portrait session, and many of them charge another $200 for a CD of hi-res images. How many images are on those CDs varies quite a bit from photographer to photographer. A lot of photogs around here also just charge PER image on CD (I've seen some that charge $50 for a single digital file!) I think a lot of them want to discourage buying CDs though and encourage purchasing prints. I think that kind of sucks, because photography has changed a lot in the last few years and most people want to make their own albums, prints, etc. I do recognize the time it takes to retouch each image though.
My maternity/newborn photographer charges $500 total to do a maternity session and a newborn session and includes a CD of hi-res, retouched images from each session (about 20 - 30 photos per CD). That was actually one of the best deals we could find around here for someone with the talent we were looking for. My RTD session was $400 for about 1.5 hours of shooting and the CD of images. (But the photog's CD had 600 photos on it, and she touched up most of the really good shots...she was amazing.)
You're telling me! I really wanted it to be this month. Got my hopes up way too much. If my current calculations are correct, my next ovulation should be on/right around my birthday. Fingers crossed!
DD, that's awesome! How is Robin doing? When is it 90 days post op?

He's doing good. The surgery was March 1, so we haven't hit the 90 day mark yet. We've been reading 2-3 months, even though the doctor told us 3. It was silly for me to get my hopes up this month. We just timed it perfectly and I was a day late, so.
I think 18 cycles is just hitting me hard.
I understand, and really hope that that third cycle is going to do it for you! Plus, what a fun time to get KU on your birthday. :-)
