Taking the Plunge
To apply for a new job that is 
I work for the State and I was perusing the job openings the other day and came across one that caught my eye. I'd still stay within the State (I'd be nuts to leave....good pay, benefits, retirement, etc), but it would be a promotion and I'd work in the state capital area.
I'm still very unsure if I even WANT a new job, as I wasn't really seriously looking. However, the only way for advancement is to get a job in the capital area. It'll mean a longer commute (I'd probably take the train), but the opportunities for advancement there are soooo much greater than where I am now. So, I'm taking the plunge, putting in the application and I'll see what happens from there. If I would happen to get the job, I'll decide then if it's something I really want to pursue now or wait a few years. Wish me luck!!

Yes, I'd still be under Dept of Public Welfare, but I wouldn't be a case worker anymore...I'd be doing research and projects related to welfare reform and policy.
