To be fair... name #2

image

We would call her "Ellie".  DH's grandmother is Elizabeth, and my Grandmother's name is Annabel.

  • I also really like this name... Either would be good choices!

  • Ooo, I like Elizabeth too.  If we didn't use it for Kaitlyn's middle name it'd be a top choice if we had another girl (but I'd use the full name).

Well, at least you have time to decide.  Maybe when she's born & you look at her you'll know right away.

I should also mention that my MIL's name is Ellen, and has gone by the nickname "Ellie" from time to time.  While it's not necessarily a huge consideration, especially if I really liked the name, it's kinda' irking me for some reason.  We don't really get along, and I know she'd secretly gloat because of this.

  • Tough choice, they are both good names.  I like Lillian slightly more...if you are keeping a tally :)

  • I like this name too, although I agree with the others that I like Lillian more :)  It's a little more unique.  I know several Elizabeth's, but not a single Lillian

Maybe MIL would be nicer if she thought you liked her enough to "name the baby after her". It could work in your favor.

This is always a possibility.  "Elizabeth" is actually his paternal grandmother's name, and his parents are divorced.  I think that fact in itself might irritate her enough to counteract the nickname situation for me.  Angel

  • I vote for Lillian!  Not that you care, but I feel like I need to explain that I don't dislike Elizabeth, but it's so much more common, and I prefer names that are less common in general.  :o)

That is my thought as well.  "Elizabeth Anne" is classic, traditional, sweet, all in all a very nice name.  I don't dislike it.  Heck, I'm the one that presented it to him.

However, "Lillian Faith" seems a bit more unexpected while still seeming classic, traditional, and sweet to me.  It also has some sentimental value to me that I explained in the other post.

I really like the nickname Ellie, but this might sway me not to do it.  Both are great names though.

I love Ellie, too.  But I would probably vote against it due to the MIL name thing.  I am on Team Lillian.

P.S.  So you're no longer considering Cornball or Larry???

"Lillian Faith" is more or less a backup name should "Larry Cornball" not fit the baby's personality upon arrival. Smile

    lol.

I love Ellie, but due to the MIL thing I would probably not name her that, but that's my personal opinion.  And I think Lilly & Emma sounds better than Ellie & Emma.
