POLL: How much do you drink?
They've been talking about this on ML and a lot of ladies over there said they easily drink a bottle of wine a night. That seems like a lot to me, but is it typical?
How many alcoholic drinks, on average, would you say you have a week? Do you typically have at least one a day?
Re: POLL: How much do you drink?
I'd say I have, on average, about 4 drinks per week. Usually just when out to dinner on the weekend, and maybe one or two glasses of wine at home during the week.
None during the week. On Friday or Saturday (never both b/c I hate to drink my calories), I might have a few beers. So three drinks per week on average.
I've seen the bottle of wine comments elsewhere and wondered if people were just exaggerating a bit--like their Hs helped them out with the bottle. I'm not a wine fan because it means insta-headache for me, so the idea of that makes me a bit woozy.Yeah, I mean, if H and I SPLIT a bottle of wine at dinner, we are both pretty damn drunk! So I really can't imagine drinking one by myself in a single evening.
I think the full bottle comment would have to be an exaggeration for effect on the baords. I can't imagine a bottle a night, but maybe some of them drink a lot and are used to it a bit.
When I can drink, I usually have a few drinks during the week, usually when sporting events are on tv, but it's generally one drink. On a Friday or Saturday, I can split a bottle of wine with a friend or a pitcher of margaritas. I try not to drink heavily on a work night. Nothing worse than a hangover at work.
I am not a drinker at all. I haven't had a drink in about a year and half. I might have had 15 drinks since Jordan was born and he is 6 1/2 yrs old.

We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?

I'll be the outcast. I can drink a bottle of wine in a night. I use to do it regularly. I would open a bottle when I got home from work and have a glass while I settled in for the night, then pour more while I cooked dinner, more with dinner and I'd finish it off while watching TV or a movie.
I try to only have a glass or two during the week now. DH and I enjoy usually a bottle or two over a weekend. We don't drink it to get drunk, we enjoy nice wines and like to have them with dinners.
I guess it really depends what else is going on that week. There are times when I'll meet friends from drinks or dinner during the week and will usually have a glass of wine or two. Depending on what we eat, B and I might open a bottle of wine with dinner or have a beer, but that's rare these days. Like Kari, we generally enjoy a bottle or two over a weekend. It really just depends what else we have going on.
The marketing committee at my work usually meets one night a week at a bar/restaurant for happy hour, I'll usually have 1-2 drinks on those nights. Other then that I usually just have a drink or two when we go out to dinner or in social settings. I rarely ever drink at home.
