**Moms**

How long did you have to wait after giving birth to be cleared to work out again?

Re: **Moms**

  • 21 months.  Ha ha, I am kidding.  I really do not remember.  How vigorous of a workout do you mean?  I am sure moderate walking and light lifting would be fine after the 6 week mark, pending not having a c-section.  Don't quote me though.

  • My OB said walking at a moderate pace was fine when I felt up to it. She recommended waiting 12 weeks for Zumba. I asked about it specifically, though.
  • I was cleared at 6 weeks, but I didn't have any tearing or an episiotomy that needed to heal.

  • Does the 6 week rule usually include things like walking around the block on a stroll with LO in a stroller??

I had a c section, and I've been doing this for a couple of weeks now with no problems.

  • I had a CS the first time, and was told to wait 2 weeks for walking around the neighborhood, 6 weeks for moderate weightlifting and such, and 10-12 weeks for anything else.

With #2, they told me I could walk as soon as I was comfortable doing it, and the OB specifically told me to wait to get cleared for anything else (but she also knew I wanted to get back to it). She cleared me totally at 6 weeks, though.

  • Just walking around, you're fine as long as your bleeding doesn't increase during or after.
  • I was fine with walking right away, the OB said to only do what felt comfortable and if I had any increase in bleeding/cramping or other issues to rest.
