And now the waiting game...

So I just returned from my interview.  I think that it went well, but who knows?  It's out of my hands now.  I thought that my lesson was the best part of the interview, and the alliteration examples that the kids came up with were sooooo good!  I was impressed.  The in-person interview after the lesson, who knows?  There was one question that I just wasn't sure about because I've never had to use curriculum mapping, so I said that and explained that I'd be willing to learn it.  I guess that I gave it my all, and I'll wait to hear from them.  I'll pray in the meantime.

Thanks for all those vibes you ladies gave!  They worked well so far!

  • I am so happy that you feel good about it!  I am sure you nailed it!!!!  Greenbean and I will think great thoughts for you!!!!!

  • Okay, girls, so I need some serious advice right now.  I just got a call from the principal that did my interview and she said that she's at the point where she needs to call my references.  She wants to talk with my current principal.

***.  I don't know what to do.  I don't know how I can go in there and tell her that. I'm bawling right now trying to think of how I can possibly let all of these people at my current school down. I'll be the 5th language teacher in 5 years to leave... I need help ladies.

  • I think that at some point you will need to just break down and do it.  You are a typical teacher who thinks about your school's and student's needs first.  This sounds like it would be a great move for you and you need to think of yourself.

  • Well, I think for you it may be more reasonable to leave because you have a huge commute. Maybe start with how much you like your current job and students, but the commute, and the price of gas has been killing you and your pocket, and you started looking for opportunities closer to your home.  They should understand...

    Thinking about you!!!

I totally agree!!! You have to do what's right for you!!! Don't let go of the possibility of  a dream job/position because you don't want to upset the masses. There may be some initial disappointment amongst your team members...but everyone will understand. :-) I'm glad the interview went well but I'm sorry to hear you're stressing over it all.

Will be thinking about ya & interested to hear the outcome!!! :-)

Yeah, that's what everyone keeps telling me.  It's so hard; I almost never put my needs before the needs of others.  It's a trait that frustrates the heck out of a lot of my friends and DH because I allow myself to be unhappy in order to please other people.  I just am praying so so hard right now that I get this new job so I'm not looked at like I don't want to be at my current school anymore once I talk with my principal, because that isn't at all the case.  It's just that $100 a week in gas and 2 hours a day in the car is really starting to wear on me, and this school is literally my dream job.

  • Well, you're a big girl, and even though it's not your norm to put yourself first, you said yourself it's "your dream job."  You're SO close to your dream, don't let fear govern you!

You will be gracious and respectful when you discuss this with your principal, I'm certain, and the school will have to be compassionate about your professional and personal needs, because maybe some of them had to make hard choices like this too along the way in their teaching careers.

Besides, you aren't just doing this for yourself; it's going to help your DH too, I bet, and the money you save will certainly be an asset to your lives as well.

Be brave!  You can do it!
