Elizabeth's poll got me thinking, that since so many of us drink wine, we should be sharing some favorites. I try to mix it up with random cheap bottles from Costco and Trader Joes, but I also have a few staples (some expensive and some not), almost all of which come from California:
1) Estancia Meritage;
2) Kim Crawford Sav Blanc;
3) Silver Oak;
4) Frank Family Reserve Cab;
5) Pretty much anything from Paradux line from Duckhorn; and
6) Dancing Bear Ranch Cab.
I'd like to try wines from other regions more, I just don't really know what to pick.
Also, we tend to keep a lot of dessert wine in the house too. For anyone looking for something different and delicious, the Angelica from Swanson Vinyards is amazing (and lasts forever).
What are some of your favorites?
Re: S/O Favorite Wines
I am so sad when it comes to wine. I seriously pick it out based on the Graphic Design on the label.I love white wine with an Owl on it from Whole foods. Kangaroos, Koalas, and a bull. I don't even know the names just what the label looks like.
I also can not get past drinking red wine. I just like my drinks cold. Red wine also stains my teeth so I usually stick to white.
I like my wines red and full bodied, so I generally gravitate towards Cab Sauv's, Baco Noir's and that like. I almost exclusively drink Ontario wines nows. Buy local!!
Do you guys get any Ontario wines down there in the US?
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
I usually drink wine, but I really don't know much about it either. I really want to start learning more though, and becoming more selective in what I drink.
I do have favorite TYPES of wine, though. I don't care for very dry whites, so I usually opt for Riesling for white. Cabernet sauvignon has been my go-to red for years now, but I am also starting to really like syrahs/shiraz so if anyone has good reccs for those, I'd love to hear them!
Also, have you guys tried Brachetto d'Acqui? If you don't like sweet drinks, it's not for you, but it's a sweet, sparkling red wine and it is so fun!
I almost exclusively drink merlot or cab. I really like Lindemann's (Australian) and it isn't too expensive. I do love the Black Box wine too, and the box stays fresher than the bottle.
I got a mixed case of California reds from wineinsider.com (on a Groupon) that was very good. I can't remember the brands, but it ended up being $5.60 a bottle with the Groupon and .01 cent shipping.
I almost exclusively drink new world reds.
Nederburg Winemaster's Reserve Cab Sauvignon is my "old faithful" that I always have a bottle or two in the fridge - very, very oakey but so yummy. I also when I can get it, basically buy up stock in any Boschendal wine I can get my hands on - the 1685 Shiraz is probably my favourite.

Neither I love Round Hill's Chardonnay. I'm so sad our LCBO doesn't carry it anymore. =( I also love Sauv Blancs from New Zealand for summer.
We're not exclusive anything drinkers, but like Raynes, I lean toward Ontario wines. Malivore is one of my favourites.
