BF'ing moms - vit D Q

What brand do you get for the Vitamin D drops, and where do you get them?

I'm currently using Enfamil D-Vi-Sol, but it has such a strong odor, and DS definitely notices the flavor, and even acts a little funny/strange after I give him the drops...  Are there other brands out there?  It took me a trip to 3 stores before I finally found these ones.

I got him some "Baby D" tabs from the natural health food store...they're these tiny little white tabs that dissolve on the tongue; very easy to give and for him to eat.  After a few times of him spitting up the Tri Vi Sol all over everything, I switched to those tabs, although I can't tell you I was great about giving them to him very consistently ;)

  • We started with the enfamil too- but I thought, flavor? For a newborn? My pedi recommended a pharmacy on the Marginal Way in Portland (I live in Portland) called Apothecary. We now have Carlson Baby D drops. They were expensive, but you literally use one drop- not a dropper full like the enfamil (that they spit out and get all sticky with!)- so the bottle lasts a year. You just put the drop on either your nipple or pacifier. Easy peasy. And no additives.
  • Just a tip that saved my life w/ Jake - give them the vitamins in the bathtub so it doesn't stain their clothes when it inevitably dribbles down their cheek  ;o/

We used this kind - once a day, one drop on a pacifier, nipple on bottle, or nipple on....well, self.   :)    And it really did last us a whole year!

  • We use the Carlson Baby Vitamin D drops, too.  I get them from Amazon. They're great.  I keep the bottle next to my favorite BFing place so I remember to use them.

  • I used tri-vi-sol with Grace but was she HATED them so I barely ever gave them to her.  I don't give them to Liam at all.

  • We never gave them. The pedi pushed iron, too, like made me feel guilty about it from 6 months on, but she wasn't even anemic at the 12 month check so I don't feel the need for it.
