I work at a church, and I'm very close with many of the members.
Today, I got a call and the person said, "I'm assuming you all know that John Doe died. He dropped dead after running." I didn't know. No one at church was notified yet. She was just so matter of fact about it.
I'm just in shock. He was only 65, and he seemed like he was in such good health. We talked about eating healthy all the time, and he was always encouraging me to lose weight.
He was such a pillar of this church, and everyone is broken up over it. Of course, this isn't the first member to die. Like I said, it is just the worst part of my job.
Finally, this afternoon, I have pulled it together and I'm not crying anymore, but this morning was rough.
Obviously, I would be a terrible doctor or nurse.
Re: worst part of my job
Oh man! That really is hard I'm sure. Its hard for me to imagine someone being so matter of fact about something like that, especially if it hadn't been that long. ((hugs))
