Holy Sinus Pressure

Anyone else?!?!  If so, what are you doing about it.

My regime of Allegra-D 24hr and nearly overdosing on Ibuprofen aren't cutting it.  I'm adding sinus rinse and flonase tonight to see if it makes any sort of a difference.

Re: Holy Sinus Pressure

  • I'm right there with you. This weather plus allergies are killing me.

  • My current cocktail did the trick through my allergy season this year (Mar/Apr), but it requires your doctor's assistance.  I take Zyrtec instead of Allegra, but also have prescriptions for Singulair (another pill I take on top of the Zyrtec) and a nasal spray (I happen to have a prescription for Rhinocort, but there are others) to keep my nasal passages open.  I haven't had a allergy season this painless in YEARS.

  • Zyrtec, Singular, Nasonex, plus Sudafed (and not the PE) as needed for death level sinus issues.

  • yep, it's been bad all day today. I don't know what's going on!
  • I do a sinus rinse, plus allergy meds, and when it's really bad I have found my new wonder drug....image

There is also a $2 coupon on the sudafed website

  • In addition to what others have said - on really bad days, I add liquid Benadryl.  I feel like it works faster and better than regular Benadryl.

If you're super congested, it can be hard to get the sinus rinse to actually go in your nose.  I sometimes do a nasal spray to open things up, then the sinus rinse, then repeat the nasal spray.

Now that I'm pregnant and can't do my really good prescription drug (Xyflo CR), I am addicted Afrin.  It really is true that you should NOT use it for more than 3 days in a row.

ETA: You can also put an ice pack on your face (if you can stand the pressure/weight).

Oh, YES.  Afrin is a G-dsend, especially before the long-lasting drugs kick in.

  • Weird thing is I'm not congested in the nose.  It must all be further north in my head.  Slightly runny nose but nothing out of the ordinary.  I scheduled a drs appt for this afternoon.  I think part of my problem is that I have a tooth implant and the rod actually is *almost* to my sinus cavity under my eye.

I have a sinus infection and my doctor told me to use Afrin for 3 days.  I used it for the first time ever last night and won't ever use it again.  My nose was burning for over 4 hours!  She also has me taking Augmentin and Mucinex D (with Sudafed).
