I'm in a breakfast rut and need some inspiration. What did you have this morning?
Re: What's For Breakfast?
For a snack on my drive in, I had a chocolate chip sour cream muffin (if you haven't made muffins with sour cream, do it! amazing).
For my actual breakfast, I had fat-free honey greek yogurt sprinkled with yogurt, walnuts, strawberries & blackberries.
well so far today all I've had is iced coffee.
But I have banana bread and also some vanilla bean poundcake that makes a great breakfast...especially with the last of the macerated strawberries in the fridge.
Okay really, don't listen to me. My breakfast choices are not particularly sensible lately!
Maple cornbread, warmed.
And an iced mocha (well, cold mocha-- I don't have ice in the house).
I'm a cereal with fruit girl most days - but if you're stuck in a cereal rut that won't help much! Today I had Crispix with a sliced banana and some blueberries. If I make oatmeal I'll throw in some pecans and put fresh fruit on top.
Sometimes I make a breakfast sandwich that sounds weird but is actually delicious - an egg (I will resort to cooking in the microwave if pressed for time) on raisin cinnamon toast with a thin slice of cheddar.
Oh, and poached eggs - I only do this once in a while, but they're quick and easy.
Generic corn chex with raisins- nothing exciting. Little boy had Cheerios with sliced bananas.
I'm sporadic about breakfast eating, but here are some other things I have at different times:
- Oatmeal
- Muffins (banana blueberry oatmeal, banana, pumpkin, oatmeal cinnamon raisin)
- Bacon egg cheese on english muffin
- French toast
- toast with PB and jelly
- yogurt
- cottage cheese
- terrible yummy things like danishes and donuts
- scrambled eggs, toast, and juice

My milk production sucks ass so I have to eat oatmeal every morning. I was making this fabulous baked oatmeal that MACB gave me the recipe for but I didn't have a chance this weekend.
So I had plain old oatmeal.
And I'm not happy about it either.
Sometimes on the weekend I make an enormous batch of malted waffles and toast them at work and add strawberries.
I also love lemon greek yogurt with berries.
And often I will make an egg and cheese on an english muffin for the road.
Please explain this to me - I tried it once and the egg EXPLODED everywhere after like 25 seconds. I can make ganache on a double boiler with my eyes closed but I can't microwave a freaking egg.
My first pregnancy craving (or survival technique) was corn chex and ice cold millk... so that has been my breakfast 90% of the time for the past 4 months. Some days it was also lunch, dinner, all of the above, or the only thing I could keep down all day. I'm still addicted.
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day though when I do have an appetite. I find that if I mix up what I eat, then I won't get bored and I'll eat breakfast every day. Some of my favorites: multigrain cheerios & fruit, english muffins (w/ pb, jelly, eggs & cheese), toast (w/ cinn. & sugar or butter), omlet/eggs + veggies, oatmeal (w/ maple syrup), or when I'm running late a bagel from DD.
Secret is putting a papertowel over the cup and then folding it underneath.

As a dietitian, I love this question! You girls are healthy eaters!! I think I had the least healthy, which is kinda embarrasing! haha.
today I had Whole Foods golden graham knock offs with 1% milk and like, 4 cups of coffee with a little half and half (over the course of the whole morning). Or I have a bagel thin with natural peanut butter, or greek yogurt with berries, cashews, and granola OR my dh makes us smoothies that I found in Real Simple I think in Febuary? my favorite is the raspberry/milk/pb/honey
I made French Toast this morning. Totally not healthy, but delicious with real maple syrup on top...
My normal healthy (and so delicious) breakfast is a whole wheat english muffin with half an avocado mashed on top and sliced hardboiled egg. SO GOOD. I've also been on a cream of wheat kick lately.
