Who has been on a cruise?
DH and I are thinking about booking a cruise for our anniversary. Neither of us have ever been on one before so we're completely clueless.
What cruise line have you been on before?
Where did you 'cruise' to?
Any tips, things to look out for, etc.?
Right now we're kind of leaning toward a 7 day western caribbean cruise on Carnival - but I have no clue if they're a good cruise line or not.
Re: Who has been on a cruise?
I've been on three cruises, two on Carnival, one on Royal.
1st on Carnival Glory- Costa Maya, Belize, Cozumel and Progresso (7 days)
2nd on Serenade of the Seas- Puerto Rico (left from here), St. Thomas, St. Martin, Barbados, St Lucia. (7 days)
3rd (Honeymoon) on Carnival Destiny to Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Nassau (5 days)
I love cruising, but we're looking at trying an all inclusive next time with my family. Booze is separate on a cruise, and you have to pay for it on your room card- so the bill hits you on the last day.
DH and I have been on 2 - one with Carnival, and one on Royal Caribbean. We loved it, but there are two things to consider:
Most drinks are not free - soda, alcohol, etc. Juice and water are free, but most other things are not, so that adds up after a bit. The other point about cruises to remember is that you generally get less than a day in each port. It's a great time and a great way to get a taste of an area, but that's all you get - a taste.
RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.
we did a western carribbean for our honeymoon on Carnival Legend and we had a blast!
We stopped in Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Belize, and Isle of Roatan. The food was amazing especially in the main dining room, there was so much to do, and all the places we stopped were really beautiful.
There are a lot of things that can add up though while you're on the cruise, the alcohol and pop, and any excursions you do, and they are constantly hounding you to take your picture and sell you the prints.
I think in addition to the cruise/airfare, we spent several hundred dollars while we were there, but we weren't trying to budget too much since it was our honeymoon.
I loved cruising though and we are currently trying to plan another cruise for end of July around our anniversary! Good luck with whatever you choose!
Thanks for the info ladies! DH and I aren't huge drinkers...we'd probably have a couple drinks each over the course of the cruise. I thought about doing an AI instead, but don't know if the additional cost is worth it if we're not going to drink all the time.
Hmm....maybe I'll stay looking at a few AIs just to compare and see.
