    We're taking the bead moulding top off and installing a custom crown molding on top. We're also taking the cabinets off and painting them a light cream color. We're also painting the walls and installing new cabinet hardware and installing a subway tile backsplash. Spence is making a custom wine cabinet that hangs below one of our cabinets. A little more like a facelift than a complete demolition, but I am happy!

    Ok, can you make sure to post pics of the cabinets when they are done?  I think your cabinets are the same color as mine (oak right?) and I have been trying to convince DH to let me paint them white.  He's currently digging in his heels and I want to show him how awesome it will look!  I've been debating a backsplash, but I don't want to do it unless he agrees to painting the cabinets.

    Oh yes I will. I am more excited about this than transforming any other room in the house. I wanted to get a range hood, but we both like the microwave where it is and it's too convenient. We got oil rubbed bronze hardware, so it should really make a statement.

    I saw the first link you posted b/c I follow her blog.  I loved it and it made me super jealous.  Are you using the BM paint she rec'd?  I used the Behr P&P for our bathroom cabinet and it worked really well, but for a kitchen I would want to spend the extra $ to make sure it looked amazing, KWIM?

    i am in the process of painting our cabinets right now too. they have some funky oil base (from what i can tell) paint on them. i am IN LOVE with the adhesion primer. it is a little pricey but more than worth it in my opinion.
