Mention upcoming trip in interview?
I'm always unsure about the "etiquette" on this. I'm interviewing for a full-time nanny position on Thursday and I am going away for 2 weeks in October (we are having an at-home reception type of party since we got married here and majority of friends and family could not attend..and flying from Hawaii to Maine is no small trip and the one time a year we are back home, so we are making the most of it and going for 2 weeks), do I mention this in the interview? Or, assuming I get hired, wait until August or so and say "I'm going away 2 weeks in October". It's 5 months off, so I wasn't sure if it was worth mentioning.
Re: Mention upcoming trip in interview?
Ditto Wahoo.
And as ECB often notes, plenty of people have long-term vacation plans that happen to coincide with jobs/interviewing. Employers understand this. Just let them know as early as possible so you can work with them to find alternative child care during that time.

But ditto the rest of what Dr.L said too - if offered the job, give them as much notice as possible. In this situation, if they can't find back-up, they would have to plan on taking time off from their own jobs and having as much notice as possible would probably be greatly appreciated.
