Can I have a hump day vent?

I'm one of those people that likes to complain about something to get it out of my system and then I'm done with it. So, given that it's hump day, I figured it is as good a day as any to get it out.

  1. My students are idiots. If you know the school I work in, you know why. Seriously. Idiots.
  2. I went to the gym on Monday night (YAY for finally having Monday nights off from teaching!) and did a triple header of workout classes. Felt great to make it through them all. My complaint is that now I can barely move at all. I'm so sore. But I'm a sadistic person that loves being sore since it means I was working it. It's a love/hate relationship.
  3. My marriage has been, um, "tense" for a while thanks to a multitude of things, but mostly because we (mostly me) have been putting a priority in everything other than each other. My DH got home from being on the road last night and my attempt at an apology led to us crying/talking about it all until 2:30AM. It was one of those things that I know we had to have and I think we are in a better place since it happened. But that doesn't mean that only getting 2.5 hours of sleep was a great idea. I am so stinkin' tired today!
  4. I love being a teacher. But I hate, hate, hate giving grades. Midterms for the high school and finals for the college are due this week (ok, really yesterday). And I hate doing them.

I think that's enough venting for now. Thanks for letting me (not that I gave any of you a real choice).

    • Ugh!  You are having a rough week.  Especially the late night session with YH.  While I agree it's good that you talked things out, I also agree that the lack of sleep as a result makes today difficult.  Boo!  It's never too early for a martini, right?  Drinks
    • I agree with Jennifer-- you are having a rough week!

I hope it feels good to vent! And remember: this too shall pass. You may be really muddy and dirty when you get to the other side of this morass of a week, but you'll have made it through the slog and back to high ground.

Hang in there-- and we're here for any more venting you need!

    • Yeah, it wasn't the way that I envisioned the day/week going. I'm glad that we finally had a very adult, relatively calm (as calm as a blowout can be) talk about it all and made a list of ways for us to make things better. But getting to that point has taken a very long time. Suffice to say that the honeymoon is definitely over.

    • Dang, girl- that is a rough start to the week! I agree that it's never easy to have those serious, draining conversations with you s/o, but it sounds like you all will come out the better for it. As you said, though- still doesn't make struggling by on 2 1/2 hours of sleep any easier! Hang in there, and vent anytime- that's what we're here for!

Oh, and I agree w/ Jen- it's never too early for a martini!

    • Go with the three B's, a bath, a book, and some booze! Those always make me feel better :-) Hope the rest of the week looks sunnier

    • It wound up turning around a bit yesterday.

      1. Got my grades for the college posted and my HS is so wrapped up in what happened on Tuesday that no one has even seemed to notice that no one has posted midterms. So I've been chipping away at it on my own pace.

      2. I went to the 1 year celebration for my favorite deli with DH and got to eat everything on their menu for free. Ok, maybe I didn't eat everything, but I got free dinner. Including ice cream and wicked awesome whoopie pies for dessert. Afterwards we went to a meeting with a bunch of other people that do the same thing that I do (the business side) and it was really good to go together and feel like we were on the same page with what I need to do to start really cranking on it now that I have the awkward first years out of the way. Normally it has always been a "my business" thing even though it effects us both. Last night helped to make it really feel like we're both in it together.

      3. Tonight DH and I have plans to get Subway for dinner and just watch a movie together. No work allowed. It has been a while since we've done that.

      4. Tomorrow night is date night and I'm in charge of the plan. Dinner, gelato, and Pirates of the Caribean in 3D. It should be a good surprise.

There. Had to turn my vent in to something good so I'm not such a negative downer.
