The downside to fancy energy-efficient windows

(The kind with two pieces of glass with an air seal between them.)  When your neighbors break the glass playing a drinking game, you can't just pop the window out and go to the hardware store for a repair.  You end up having to call some expensive window repair company to come out and give you a free estimate, and then pay something like $350 to wait a week or two to get your special-ordered glass put in the window frame :/  Thank goodness the neighbors have already given us $200 toward the repair, but I was really hoping we wouldn't have to go back to them for even more $$.

I'm a little extra annoyed because this is in DD's bedroom, and that means a few weeks of extra rain and hot or cold air (depending on the day) potentially messing with her sleep and glass shards that like to hide in carpet despite our best efforts at vacuuming.

Aaaayyyeeee! That's awful on many levels, but particularly the fact that it's in T's room!

  • that's pretty awful and I think they should pay the whole bill!

  • that must have been one helluva drinking game! and yes, worse yet that it's in your daughter's room!

  • Did you end up calling Blaine Windows?

Sorry it was the kiddo's room - that stinks.  Like pp said - good grief, that must have been one heckuva drinking game!

Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.
  • Artslvr - I left DH in charge of making calls, so I don't even know who he made an appt. with.  I got so frustrated with the project that I sort of threw my hands up and gave up.

The drinking game involved spinning around with the player's forehead on a baseball bat that was held vertically on the ground.  I suspect whoever did it let go of the bat and it flew up at the window - but considering it's a second story window 15 feet away from where they were playing, it was quite the poorly-played round!

Bat races! You're lucky - when DH was in a rugby club in college they actually had naked  bat races. At least T isn't scarred for life from witnessing something like that.

To heck with T - *I'd* be scarred for life if they were doing all that naked! :P

  • Kudos to you for not going crazy. (I was originally going to write bat$hit crazy but then I realized the horrible pun). I hope it is fully fixed and paid ASAP.
