Really?! Kindergaten and heroin

http://www.wtae.com/news/27942388/detail.html

Ok, so I'm being a bit of a PW, but I just saw this on my local news site. REALLY?? I don't know what to say, except that I can't believe that a 7-year-old was really distributing stamp bags. Indifferent

Re: Really?! Kindergaten and heroin

  • I wish I could say this surprised me.  But I've had several clients that were selling drugs before the age of 10.  It's so sad.  Robbed of a real childhood.

  • It really didn't surprise me either, but I still can't wrap my mind around it. There are a few kids at my school that I could completely see doing something like this. It makes me sad.

  • Yeah.  One of my old clients had an armed robbery charge at 8.  With a semi-automatic weapon.  Unfortunately no surprise.  Sad though.

  • I am also in the camp of not shocked, but it still disturbs me.  8 year olds should be worried about recess and barbies and wiffle ball.

It sounds like this kid was not using it or wasn't really trying to sell it.  His parents may have had him give them out, or he may have just taken them.  To him, they likely had cool stickers.  I am glad no one got hurt from ingesting it.  It is sad, but some drug dealers are genius marketers.  (Note I said some. I have had some really dumb criminals as well).

I was talking to a worker at a local Boys and Girls Club in the city I work at.  Some of the youth I work with volunteer there.  When the elementary kids are dropped off from the bus, pimps and drug dealers approach them asking if they want to make money.
