It was weird to do it over the phone. I've only done that once before and it was a long time ago for something completely different. It was all right, I think. I wouldn't say I feel like I killed it (as DH would say in comedy lingo). I think I sounded really nervous even though I prepared extensively. I think I said um too much. I wish I had sounded more confident. Even though I was trying to, it was a little hard to sound really confident. But I think I had good answers for most things and I think I sounded like I would be a good fit in that district. It was weird though because it's a charter school district (an intervention in part of LAUSD) and so the woman interviewing me was not from the school site. The application process is really long. If I move on from here it's a face to face interview with someone from HR again. Then if I move on from that it's a face to face with the principal and a panel of teachers at the school site. I guess the reason it's so involved is that they have multiple school sites with different focuses/themes. So they want to see which site you would fit into the best. Anyway, it's done so I can relax for a little while until (hopefully the next one).
ETA: "We would like to take
this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to have a telephone
interview with us. Our committee
has reviewed your application, and we regret to inform you that you
have not been selected as a finalist for this position." Well, I guess I didn't do great. Although I can't help but wonder if in
the process of looking at my application now, they just noticed the lay
off today and that is why they aren't interested. Or they contacted my former principal today and she said nasty things. I have a hard time seeing her doing that but...
Re: Phone Interview Done (ETA Update)
I'm sure you did great! In my experience, phone interviews are mostly just initial screens to make sure they don't totally hate you, or think you're absolutely unqualified before they waste time setting up face to face meetings. I'm sure they'll call you back!

I'm sorry. It's so hard to know (and with public school politics it could be that they already knew they wanted candidate x before they ever posted but they had to go through the hoops.)
Hope you find something.
