Worried about Ella's teeth

Do you think its weird that Ella still does not have her eye teeth or two year molars? She is almost 28 months old and has no signs of any of them erupting anytime soon. She has always been a late teether and didn't get her first tooth until two weeks before her first birthday but I'm starting to get kind of worried. My husband had a rare thing where his top two eye teeth grew in parallel to the roof of his mouth and he had to go through a painful process to have them pulled down and I'm wondering if he has passed something like that on to E? Maybe I am just being paranoid. What do you ladies think?

P.S. Ella has not gone to the dentist yet- I know, I know BAD parents. We were late on enrolling her on our dental plan but will take her this summer.

Re: Worried about Ella's teeth

  • I had impacted eye teeth too! Mine were just the permanent teeth though, my baby eye teeth came in. I wouldn't think anything is wrong, but taking her to a dentist to make sure wouldn't hurt. Getting those eye teeth pulled down hurts like a B and takes forever!!!!
  • I'm sure Dr. Waage will have good answers for you. This is one of the reasons why I think it is so helpful to see a pediatric dentist, they'll be much more familiar w/ these sort of issues.

oh, and i forgot to include this in the post below, but here is some more info:)

  • If it makes you feel better, my nephew didn't get his 2yr molars till he was almost 3!

  • Okay, I am a dork and have a really dumb question.  Are 2 year old molars different than regular molars?  Kellen got all 4 molars about 2 months ago.  I know that there are more molars to come in, I just am not sure when, or what they are called.  Thanks for calling attention to this- it helps me!!!

If it makes you feel better, Jackson also doen't have them.   No signs of either to come.   He didn't get his first tooth until he was 15 months old.   We did take him to the dentist between 12-15 months and they took x-rays to make sure they were all in his mouth.

We actually go back to the dentist (1 year later) for a regular check up, but I'm certainly going to ask about his 2-year molars and eye teeth.

  • reese doesn't have her molars yet and her eye teeth are just starting to come in.  I'm not concerned.  She didn't get her first tooth until she was almost 10 months old.  The pedi isn't concerned, so I'm not, either.

We haven't taken Reese to the dentist yet, either Embarrassed  She's a hot mess when we go to the pedi.  I don't even want to know what she's going to be like at the dentist.
