At what point would you get ugly?

I'm about to go to sleep and stew over this one,but I am interested in your opinions.

Last Sunday our water pipe in the garage exploded. We were without water for less than half a day. The landlord's handyman came and "fixed it". Problem was he just made the water flow, but there was no pressure. He came back two days later (was supposed to come the next day, but didn't) and no luck.

The master bath shower doesn't work at all - as in a slight trickle comes out. The other shower is like a third of what it's supposed to be. I can take a shower, but it takes forever and I feel like I'm not getting rinsed, KWIM?

I also haven't done laundry b/c I'm scared to wash clothes and have them not get rinsed properly and ruin the clothes.

Called landlords yesterday - no response. Called and texted today - they finally answered back and said they were coming Saturday to look at it. I asked if he was a plumber or if he was just coming to look. Was told he was just coming to look...why?...because they have no money and are probably come to see if he can just fix it (when he won't be able to) or to see if we're lying about the pressure.

So now we'll be with not really functioning water pressure at least through the weekend. Not to mention we're going out of town Saturday so he'll have to come check it while we're not even here.

My point to this lengthy story is a question - how long would you let this continue before getting annoyed and angry? Should I give it another week since we technically do have water - at least to some extent??

Re: At what point would you get ugly?

  • do you mean wait to get annoyed, or wait to show them you're annoyed? because it's sounds like, and i don't blame you in the least, you're already annoyed. and who wouldn't be? the laundry part especially would bother me. how much of a trickle are you talking? like seriously barely coming out, or just not the level of water pressure you'd like? cuz if you really seriously aren't getting clean then 2 non working showers (if you're not getting clean it's not working) and no laundry for several days is unacceptable. not that these people will care! (i remember the bee hive post). good luck.

  • I'd be annoyed after about a day of it. I'd be pist after 3 days, and you would hear about it on day 3. If after 2 days of me annoying you about my being pist, I'd call the plumber myself, pay for it, and take it off my rent with a big ole note saying "F-U A-HOLE"

Then again, I have a terrible track record with landlords, and have lost a lawsuit with one.. so I may not be the best person to take advice from.. but it's still what I would do. Or, threaten to call the plumber yourself and take it off if he doesn't rectify the situation within so many hours/days. It may be the kick in the butt he needs.

  • i think it would be about yesterday or the day before.....good luck!!
  • Oh, I was annoyed as soon as the guy "fixed" the problem and didn't really fix it. I'm trying to decide how long to be easy going about this before I am like "...JUST FREAKING FIX IT ALREADY!!"

MD - The trickle in the master bath is non-existent water. Like if you turn a hose off and then the last little bit comes out - maybe like that. Three drops from the shower head.

The guest bath is the "not as much pressure as we'd like". Water comes out, but not really strong. It's not AWFUL, but it pretty bad. I can't really explain water pressure, but when I get out I still smell like soap majorly because it isn't actually washing off my skin.

I really don't know about the laundry - I'm scared to do a load and have it take forever to fill up and then our utility bills go up....or our clothes get ruined. I actually have tons of clothes so I'm fine to go two weeks without washing, but when H gets back he's going to need to do laundry.

UGH. I really don't want to move again, but these people are constantly on my nerves.
