Because it's okay to be embarrassing here...

Okay, so I admit it - I totally get sweaty smelly feet. It sucks, but it's really only bad in flats/shoes without socks (sandals are okay though). Today I bought Dr. Scholls foot spray, I'm gonna try it out and see if it works...this time of year can be tough :( Does anyone else have this issue or any suggestions? Or if you just want to make me feel better, feel free to share your own embarrassing issues :)

Re: Because it's okay to be embarrassing here...

  • Im the same way!!! In flats it's horrible, but flip flops Im fine. I have some cute flats but never wear them so let me know how the spray works!!
  • Just call me Queen of Stinky Feet!!  My flats are awful, and sandals get pretty bad too.  The Dr. Scholls spray didn't work for me.  I use gold bond powder (in the blue tub).  Haven't noticed a difference yet, but sweat summertime hasn't hit full on yet.

I personally don't like using anything, since your feet absorb so much crap (have you ever done one of those ionic foot baths?), but pure vanity will keep me using something.  I also just ordered some inserts for flip flops that absorb sweat and prevent stinky feet.

  • Nope don't have sweaty smelly feet, but I am a big sweater.  During the summer it's bad and I always get stains in my underarms.

I also have this problem. When I was a preschool teacher up north we would always have to wear closed toed/heeled shoes. Well, in the summer I would not want to wear sock/sneakers so I would buy the Sketcher summer sneaker that you don't wear socks. OMG my feet/sneaker would smell awful. When I would sleep over Gregs I would have to hid them in bag/leave them in my car in fear he would smell them.

My Ugg's which aren't suppose to smell, smelt

I am also fine in flip flop/sandles.

I have no suggestions this is just to make you feel better.

  • For those who have this issue - does your H ever say anything? If you've tried a spray, did he tease you? My DH is actually very good and doesn't seem to care, but I'm still nervous to admit I'm spraying down my feet! Usually I take off my flats and hide them and then throw on socks right away so he won't know they get real stinky lol.
  • Oh yeah, DH notices.  He'll be like, "what's that smell?"  I play dumb and then go powder the shoes and hide them in the closet.
  • I am definitely a sweater, especially in the summer.  I use Secret Clinical Strength deoderant which seems to help as long as I apply it the night before and not in the morning.

If my flats ever get smelly, I put a piece of toilet in them with some baby power on top and just let them air out.

  • I am a huge sweater - damp armpit circles all the time in the summer.

My feet get stinky in certain shoes; I bought some of those little ped things (kind of like what stores have to try on shoes, if you don't have socks) that don't show in most flats.  They are antimicrobial, and I don't know if that helps or it's just the fact that my feet aren't bare in the shoes, but I don't have the sweating issue.  I got a three-pack at Target for cheap.

I once had a super cute pair of Puma flats that got so smelly I had to throw them away - they stunk up my whole closet, even after I sprayed them with Febreze and then tried to wash them in the washing machine.

Edit: the sock thingies look like this

  • DH's shoes get pretty smelly if he is running or working in them. I usually throw a dryer sheet (bounce) in each shoe to freshen them up and when they get really bad our running shoes get tossed in the washer.
  • g and i discovered i had stinky feet on our road trip across america...stuck together in a little car...and he picks on me relentlessly.  i have no pride though, so it doesn't bother me, it makes me laugh.  its really just one or two pairs of shoes (some flats, and some sandals) that really are awful.
  • My feet don't really sweat.  And if they stink, I haven't noticed.

I DO however have cracked, dry, perpetually ashy feet.  It's awful and embarassing.  I always look like I just crossed a sand dune bare foot.   I sometimes carry lotion just for my fissured heels.  The worst part is that I love walking barefoot and dirt invariably gets lodged in my heel skin cracks for days at a time.

    oh wells...

  • Same same same. Feet sweat and smell. Awful.

  • Yeah, if I don't wear socks, my feet stink BAD.  Even in sandals. K used to pick on me, but then he stopped after I shoved my feet in his face a few times for making fun of me. :-)

I've tried the Dr. Scholl's foot spray and it didn't work.  I tend to use the powder instead b/c it soaks up some of the moisture.
