TTC: How long have you been/were you TTC? Is it taking longer than you expected?

1st trimester: When did you start showing? Did you were showing before you told people, did you try to hide it?

2nd trimester: What did round ligament pain feel like for you? Did you know that?s what it was or did it worry you?

3rd trimester: Are you using a belly bra? If so, which one? Do you recommend it?

L&D: Did your husband coach you? If so, did he take a class? Were any books helpful for him to learn what to do and expect? (Note from me - Personally, I really like The Birth Partner. It has great synopses for guys who?ll only read a few pages and also talks about what partners might be feeling during the various stages of labor)

First days: What your strategies for calming a fussy baby? (Note from me ? Hug Your Baby, The Happiest Baby on the Block, and this information from Dr. Sears are all good reads).

Re: BotB

  • TTC: How long have you been/were you TTC? Is it taking longer than you expected?  One cycle.  We were both shocked.

1st trimester: When did you start showing? Did you were showing before you told people, did you try to hide it? I think I really started looking pg around 18 weeks.  No, and no.

2nd trimester: What did round ligament pain feel like for you? Did you know that?s what it was or did it worry you? I get occassional sharp pains when I stand up quickly like from my office chair or the toilet.  It's enough for me to stop and be like "oww!"....I first felt it around 9-10 weeks I think, and at that point it was almost reassuring to know my uterus was growing and my ligaments were stretching to accomodate a baby.  Now though, it's just painful and although it doesn't worry me at all, I could do without it ;)

L&D: Did your husband coach you? If so, did he take a class? Were any books helpful for him to learn what to do and expect? (Note from me - Personally, I really like The Birth Partner. It has great synopses for guys who?ll only read a few pages and also talks about what partners might be feeling during the various stages of labor) We're taking/have taken Bradley classes (last class is actually this week), and he has The Birth Partner on his nightstand to read.

First days: What your strategies for calming a fussy baby? (Note from me ? Hug Your Baby, The Happiest Baby on the Block, and this information from Dr. Sears are all good reads).  We actually just watched THBOTB DVD the other night!  I'm sure we'll be watching it again a couple more times in the next 6 months though :)

Updates: I got nothing.  Just lots of kicks, and 26 weeks tomorrow.  I'm a little in shock that I'll be in the 3rd tri in 8 days.  It flies by.

    Craziness!!

TTC: How long have you been/were you TTC? Is it taking longer than you expected?  On cycle 13. Definitely longer than we hoped for.

  • TTC: How long have you been/were you TTC?

We've been off the pill since October.

Is it taking longer than you expected?

Yes and no. I've already gotten pregnant twice, which is kind of amazing, but I've also miscarried twice. We went off in October, got PG in November. Started trying again in February, got PG in March. So, I seem to get pregnant pretty easily. It's staying that way that's hard! We're hoping to start trying again in August, so hopefully it'll happen in September!

  • TTC: How long have you been/were you TTC? Is it taking longer than you expected?

We pulled the goalie at the beginning of 2010, but it took us two cycles of actively trying to get pregnant.

1st trimester: When did you start showing? Did you were showing before you told people, did you try to hide it?

I am/was a chubby girl, so I imagine it took a while for me to show. My belly didn't get round and pregnant-esque until about Week 20.

2nd trimester: What did round ligament pain feel like for you? Did you know that?s what it was or did it worry you?

Round ligament pain feels like getting kicked in the crotch after riding a horse for ten hours. I didn't know what it was, so my certified nurse midwife had to explain it to me.

3rd trimester: Are you using a belly bra? If so, which one? Do you recommend it?

I was told to use some sort of maternity support, but I never got around to getting one. Oops.

We are currently taking our Prepared Childbirth course (once a week for four weeks). He is learning lots about labor and I think he'll be awesome and supportive when the time comes. He's also been reading The Expectant Father throughout this pregnancy to prepare.

First days: What your strategies for calming a fussy baby? (Note from me ? Hug Your Baby, The Happiest Baby on the Block, and this information from Dr. Sears are all good reads).

My friend has a very fussy, colicky baby and she gave me a CD of Pure Baby White Noises and a DVD of Happiest Baby on the Block. She says that they saved her sanity, so I'll be using them for sure. My husband is already claiming that he's an expert on the 5 S's. We'll see Stick out tongue

Updates: Happy 35/35 to me!! It doesn't feel that long ago when I was counting the days to that first viability ultrasound. While I am so ready to meet this baby, I want her to bake a little bit longer, and I really don't mind going a little bit past my due date (I may be eating my words next week). My next OB appointment is at 36 weeks, and they become weekly appointments after that Indifferent

I'm not laughing at you, but your description has me cracking up. =) I thought I dislocated my hip at one point. Between that and the sciatic pain in the beginning I knew it would be an interesting 9 months.

Now, crazy random contractions at the end....oh boy, I thought my vagina was going to fall out. Oh, the fun stuff! =)

  • First days: What your strategies for calming a fussy baby?

With H, the swing was a godsend. The pacifier was big for us too. Comfort nursing helped the most though. He HATED being swaddled, that never worked....oh and ssshhhh-ing STILL works for a trying bedtime and he's 15 months today!

  •   TTC: How long have you been/were you TTC? Is it taking longer than you expected? It took us 13 cycles. Longer than I expected and hoped

1st trimester: When did you start showing? Did you were showing before you told people, did you try to hide it? I started to show pretty early, by 14 weeks I was for sure in maternity clothes and couldn't really hide it anymore

2nd trimester: What did round ligament pain feel like for you? Did you know that?s what it was or did it worry you? I had some pretty intense RLP at about 20ish weeks, I felt like my pelvis was being ripped apart. I couldn't put on pants or stand on one leg. I thought there was no way I was going to make it 20 more weeks. but once i got stretched out, it got better, thank goodness!

3rd trimester: Are you using a belly bra? If so, which one? Do you recommend it? I did use a support belt when i was experiencing the above pain, it was from Motherhood

L&D: Did your husband coach you? If so, did he take a class? Were any books helpful for him to learn what to do and expect? (Note from me - Personally, I really like The Birth Partner. It has great synopses for guys who?ll only read a few pages and also talks about what partners might be feeling during the various stages of labor)Yes, and he was amazing (even our doula said so!) We took Bradley method and he read the bradley method book

First days: What your strategies for calming a fussy baby? (Note from me ? Hug Your Baby, The Happiest Baby on the Block, and this information from Dr. Sears are all good reads). The 5 Ss worked for us. John still does the side and shhing and swaying when putting E to bed. (but I just nurse and snuggle)

  • TTC: How long have you been/were you TTC? Is it taking longer than you expected?

Yes, alot longer and still working on it. I really hope this next IUI works b/c while I am grateful my dad will help paying for IVF (if we have to go this route), going through the process scares me.

Multiple IVFs=TWINS! Due FEB 5, 2012!! Born @33W4D Lilypie Premature Baby tickers
  • TTC: How long have you been/were you TTC? Is it taking longer than you expected?  It took 12 cycles.  My mom was super-fertile and so are most of the women in my family.  Even though I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything, I was hoping to get pregnant right away.

1st trimester: When did you start showing? Did you were showing before you told people, did you try to hide it?  I had some pretty good bloat by 9 weeks that was hard to hide, and by 13 weeks I had an obvious bump.  I didn't try to hide it, I wanted people to know I was pregnant and not just gaining weight.

2nd trimester: What did round ligament pain feel like for you? Did you know that?s what it was or did it worry you? I thought I had it, but my doctor said it was just regular muscle pain.  It felt like a twinge or pinch on the side of my belly when I would twist or try to sit up too fast.  I still don't know exactly what that was.

3rd trimester: Are you using a belly bra? If so, which one? Do you recommend it?  Nope.

L&D: Did your husband coach you? If so, did he take a class? Were any books helpful for him to learn what to do and expect? (Note from me - Personally, I really like The Birth Partner. It has great synopses for guys who?ll only read a few pages and also talks about what partners might be feeling during the various stages of labor) We took Birthing From Within together and that was really helpful.  He also took a Just For Dads Prep class that (according to him) really helped prepare for the emotional difficulty of watching his wife go through labor.  I think it's harder for men than they expect it to be, so I'm glad he had some warning!

First days: What your strategies for calming a fussy baby? (Note from me ? Hug Your Baby, The Happiest Baby on the Block, and this information from Dr. Sears are all good reads).  Oh my, we have quite the fussy baby.  I think our best strategies have come from HBOTB- we use some combination of the 5 S's almost all the time.  This baby is constantly swaddled!  We bounce her constantly- she hates to be still.  An exercise ball is essential for a baby who needs to be bounced.  She also relies heavily on a pacifier for self-soothing... I had no idea how much newborns can be soothed by their sucking reflex.  The pacifier is not just a "plug" for her crying- the sucking really does calm her down.  I wish I had known that before, so I wouldn't worry about the stigma of a paci.

Updates: 2-month appointment on Monday, with shots.  I'm not looking forward to that.  Also, we had our first flight last week- I'll post our story on the Bump or my blog, since it went both better than expected AND just as badly as expected!

  • TTC: How long have you been/were you TTC? Is it taking longer than you expected?

It took us 4 cycles. I definitely thought it would take a while longer as did DH. We were both pretty shocked with the BFP.

1st trimester: When did you start showing? Did you were showing before you told people, did you try to hide it?

I'm only 4 weeks so I'm not showing yet. I'm not going to be hiding it though, I plan to rock the bikini this summer and just hope I'm over the bloat stage by then.

    Updates

We just found out last Friday. Telling the parents tomorrow. DH and I are both very nervous and are trying not to get our hopes up too much as we know it is still early.

  • TTC: How long have you been/were you TTC? Is it taking longer than you expected? No, not really. Once cycle number one passed (I think we were hopeful) we realized that this takes some time. It took us 4 cycles.

1st trimester: When did you start showing? Did you were showing before you told people, did you try to hide it? Um, I thought I started showing quite early. But not before I told people. No one really would have noticed unless I pointed it out. Someone had thought I was gaining happy marriage weight.

2nd trimester: What did round ligament pain feel like for you? Did you know that?s what it was or did it worry you? It was a sharp pain 'down there' and while it may or may not have been, I have always attributed it to that. And no, it didn't worry me. Not much has actually, which is so not me.

3rd trimester: Are you using a belly bra? If so, which one? Do you recommend it? Nope, not using one. I don't buy much, most all my clothes were free, so if it wasn't in a bag, than I don't have it.

    Updates:

At 18 days left, am I really the next person? Is it ok that I am freakin' out a little and also realizing that the rest of my life is going to involve a crap ton of laundry?

  •  TTC: How long have you been/were you TTC? Is it taking longer than you expected? It took longer than I expected, I never expected to have a m/c, not including that cycle it took us 8 months.

1st trimester: When did you start showing? Did you were showing before you told people, did you try to hide it? I noticed long before anyone else did. I don't think I really looked "pregnant" until about 4/5 months along.

2nd trimester: What did round ligament pain feel like for you? Did you know that?s what it was or did it worry you? I don't know that I actually had it.

3rd trimester: Are you using a belly bra? If so, which one? Do you recommend it? I did not.

L&D: Did your husband coach you? If so, did he take a class? Were any books helpful for him to learn what to do and expect? He did and he was absolutely AMAZING. We took a birth class together and both read Ina May's Guide to Childbirth. The latter helped him with what to expect (lots of different birth stories) the birth class helped with what to do and say.

First days: What your strategies for calming a fussy baby? Still learning! What's working so far is bouncing, rocking, "sshhing," and swaddling. He's not very fussy unless there's a need to be met so I don't know that my answers qualify yet :-)

Updates: R is here! He arrived 2 weeks early on May 13. So far it has been an amazing week. I am still trying to process everything and take it all in. We are absolutely in love and feel so blessed to have him.

  • TTC: How long have you been/were you TTC? Is it taking longer than you expected?

First time it took 3 months, this time around 6 months, but could be longer since we were not preventing for about a year.

1st trimester: When did you start showing? Did you were showing before you told people, did you try to hide it?first time about 18 weeks, this time around 12 weeks 2nd trimester: What did round ligament pain feel like for you? Did you know that?s what it was or did it worry you?I can't really describe the feeling, it hurt. 3rd trimester: Are you using a belly bra? If so, which one? Do you recommend it?N/A
Updates:32 weeks now, I dropped last week.  I go to see my OB tomorrow morning.
  • TTC: How long have you been/were you TTC? Is it taking longer than you expected? This time around it's taking longer than I hoped, we started trying in earnest about 10-11 months ago, and now I am taking Femara for the first time (last baby it took about four months). I'm old for having babies though. ( I did have a BFP two months ago but I lost it right away). First days: What your strategies for calming a fussy baby? (Note from me ? Hug Your Baby, The Happiest Baby on the Block, andthis information from Dr. Sears are all good reads). I just want to add to this that reading a sleep book (we read Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child, helpful in many ways) helps you to understand how to avoid the overtired state and that helps to avoid some of the fussiness.  I did not agree with all of it, but it helped us train our baby to sleep from day one rather than having to do any drastic measures later on! Updates:Up next
