So that DH could sleep in there tonight.
We have two cars now a Honda and a Subaru (sold the Jeep last month--yay!!). And we also have a very skinny driveway, so we usually park one car on the street and one in the driveway.
We only have one set of keys for the Honda because we are too cheap to pay the $150 it costs to get an extra key made. And on Monday DH took the Honda keys to work with him (he takes the bus to the metro) and it just so happened the Honda was blocking in the Subaru in our stupid, skinny driveway. So Warner and I were stuck at home all day. I didn't freak out about it because it was a nice day and while it would have been nice to go grocery shopping, we didn't need anything urgently. We played outside and enjoyed the nice weather.
Fast forward to today. I had a bunch of errands I needed to run this morning and I'm supposed to meet up with a friend this afternoon to help her with some stuff at her new house. I get Warner ready to go (who has been a grouch all morning because it seems as though he's coming down with a cold), I get all my stuff I need for my errands and open the front door to see that the Honda is in the driveway blocking in the Subaru. I wonder why on earth DH moved it there and start looking around for the keys and--you know where this is going--I CAN'T FIND THEM BECAUSE HE TOOK THEM AGAIN.
When I finally got a hold of him on the phone he said that he moved the car into the driveway this morning because he scheduled a pickup of some yard waste and that the Honda was blocking the view of the stuff that needed to be picked up. Then, just out of force of habit, he dropped the keys into his work bag.
And that's fine, I don't give a f*ck if he moves the car, but remember to leave me the godd@mn keys!!!
He's in meetings all afternoon and can't come home to bring me the keys. So I'm stuck...and it's supposed to rain all afternoon, so I probably won't even be able to take Warner out on a walk just to get out of the house.
I know he's not trying to make me crazy on purpose but he's doing a damn good job.
And one last thing--yesterday morning, because I am also kind of an idiot, I slammed my forehead into my bathroom door when I tried to close it, but somehow didn't realize that my head was in the way. I have no idea how I do these things, but welcome to my life. My head was kind of sore all day and last night I told DH about it and we laughed about how comically clumsy I am. Then we turned off the lights to go to bed and DH rolls over to kiss me goodnight and judged the distance completely wrong and ends up head-butting me right on the exact spot when I hit my head in the morning. W.T.F???!!!
Re: I wish we had a dog house...
ditto!
Don't feel bad - I have totally done this before myself!
Baby248 - ETA 1/10/13
Me too. And if it makes you feel any better, I think Jenn248 and I are both relatively intelligent, competent people. We just apparently have depth perception problems.
And I agree with PPs - it's definitely time to splurge for another key.
at least the weekend should be nice and sunny!
if it makes you feel any better, my day has been pretty crappy. literally.
this morning, after, um, using the bathroom, the toilet overflowed. i spent all morning cleaning up the floor and was late getting T to school and got yelled at for not feeding him breakfast when we came late.
went home, and planned to take a shower when A went down for her nap, but she didn't sleep, so i took her in the shower with me. and then i smelled something. i looked down to discover that she'd pooped on my arm. and she just started eating solids, so i smelled lovely and it wouldn't just rinse off in the shower so now my wash cloth is, um, soiled.
can i get a do over?
sorry. I would be uber-annoyed too. But, in my marriage- I would be the one taking the keys by mistake
instead of the fancy extra key could you just order a valet key so you could at least move the car?
The Honda ('98 Accord) was a hand-me-down from the ILs and the key was lost years ago, before we got the car.
And only having one key has never been a problem until this week. But yes, this weekend we will definitely be plunking down the $150 for the new key.
omg. you win! that's awful!!!! I hope it gets better soon :-)
What a PITA. I hope you don't have another car incident before you get the second key!
DH would definitely manage to kiss the one spot on me I just hurt, even 10 minutes after we talk about it. Is that a guy thing?
Oh dear! Hope things got better...
You're not the only clumsy one. DH gave me a concussion from our foyer door knob. It was the last time I ever mopped the floor on my hands & knees.
you know this is a sign that you need a cleaning lady, right??
