I had our food delivered last Wed and today I finally made one and it was good! I was surprised. When we had pre wedding counseling the counselor recommended we try something like Let's Dish because we end up eating out when DH get's home mega late. Maybe I'll save some $ this month
Re: I tried my Let's Dish
I have liked what we have had too..nothign super spectacular, no better quality than something I could make but definitely easier...a nice treat:-)
what did you have?
I totally like cooking but when I never know when DH is getting home this makes it a little easier. I hate making something and have it finish an hour or more before he gets home to eat.
We had chili-lime grilled chicken breast with black bean salsa. It had a lot of flavor. I made some Spanish rice as a side to go with it. The leftovers will be good in a tortilla
I made the same one tonight! I made spinach and rice to go with it... was pretty good! Yeah, I probably could have made on my own, but... obviously, I wasn't, so having it pre-made so all I had to do was cook, was great!
"What is a week-end?"
We had the chicken fajitas this weeend--they were tasty.
Has anyone tried the egg bake yet? How was it and what else did you serve?
I'm not sure where you live, but if you're in NoVa Dinner Done is another option.
I have tried Let's Dish and Dinner Done and personally prefer Dinner Done. Let's Dish lets you split family size portions so that you get 2 of everything (if you choose to split). Dinner Done, however, has "petitie"portions that appropriate size for 2 people. You choose more entrees for the same price but have no repeats. I've been happy with all of the food we have ordered from them. It's out in Centreville. We usually do pick up, but once a month they have free delivery to certain areas.
In Maryland, a friend of mine swears by Dream Dinners.
We're making the Egg Bake this weekend since both sets of parents will be in town. I was going to serve it with the scones and fresh fruit and sausage.
DH and I agreed the Jambalaya pasta was out favorite of our lets dish meals. I really like that you didn't have to thaw it. Our second favorite was the Kung Pao pork chops. The half serving was plenty of food for the two of us and a toddler.
I served the egg bake at a baby shower I hosted and everybody loved it. They didn't leave me any leftovers, dammit. Basically it's crossaints at the bottom of the foil pan, and you unzip the egg/spinach/feta cheese liquid mixture and dump it over, then bake. Very tasty. The bread made it heartier than I thought it would be.
I don't have a side dish to recommend since it was one of many dishes, sorry!
And in response to this thread, I've gotten Let's Dish maybe 6-8 times in the past 3 years and love it. You could do the same concept for less money if you bought the items at a grocery store and froze them yourself, but the prep work, clean up, and cooking takes so much less time and is more convenient. Otto never denies me when I ask him if we can do this and stock up.
