So I think I'm winning DH over with the idea of painting the cabinets, HOWEVER, he's refusing white (well, that may change after I photoshop to show him). He suggested painting them dark. I think it'll look bad, what do you all think? I would hate to do it and then have it look horrible and be stuck. I will also photoshop with a dark color.

i have to see pics to decide. i have seen dark and really liked it.
in our space white was the best choice, but i am worried about dirt and such. we are going to paint the wall and backsplash areas a pretty dark blue. i had the paint chips from HD when we stopped for lunch and the waitress looked at me like i was crazy. clearly i didn't care. haha
You need to photoshop a really icky gross dark color. J/k Is your kitchen in the yellow range, I am blanking?
I love having the white for all the reasons I said yesterday but also because it makes my kitchen so much brighter (we get afternoon sun in there and mornings are so darn dreary).
My kitchen has very light tan walls and beige countertops.

Honestly I think your kitchen would be gorgeous with white, though I am sure dark could be pretty nice as well. If you did white you could always go a little darker with the walls if you wanted to.
I see you as a white kitchen person though, can you add that to your pro list?
Haha definitely! I totally see it with white too, but DH thinks the countertops are going to "look terrible". Ummm ok. They are neutral. They obviously go with white, another NEUTRAL, and the walls (again NEUTRAL). He makes my head hurt some days...

That's the problem
My kitchen is completely open to my basement stairs and the hallway into the foyer and up the stairs to the 2nd floor and that "hallway". They are all the same color and there's really no way to change just the kitchen. UGH. I'll photoshop and ask for opinions again
