I am having pain in one of my breasts and I am wondering if it is may be a clogged milk duct? I never had this with Grace so I am not really sure. The pain is pretty much right in the center of my nipple, when I put pressure on it or press in a little it very sore almost feels brused. When Liam latches that side and my milk lets down it hurts even more. Any ideas? It came on pretty quickly, it was a little sore yesterday and this morning but has gotten worse as the day has gone on today. I am not engored at all but Liam has been really distracted while nursing so I don't think he is fully emptying my breast plus he has a cold so he is not super interested in nursing. Should I call my doctor tomorrow or just wait and see if it goes away?

Re: Pain in one breast
Hi Carly,
I am thinking a possible bleb like MACB said. I had one for awhile and it really hurt when my milk let down, during nursing etc. Mercy hospital has a great lactation program. If you haven't called anyone yet, I would reccomend giving them a call. When I left the hospital with Delia they said I could always call and if I needed stop by. Goodluck! ~Lori
I've had a couple, and mastitis as well which I wouldn't wish on anyone. I agree with Megan that it seems like a strange place for a clogged duct, but I know they can happen wherever there is one. LCs can be great resources, and also the website Maeghan mentioned is kellymom.com, which is a LLL certified actual-good-info site.
Clogged ducts can come on fast, moist heat is best if you can take a super hot shower or a heating pad, and massage it (like you're working the milk out) and pump if he won't eat, but if it doesn't seem to go away, keep a close eye that you don't have a fever, chills, headache, anything that might be sign of infection. Hopefully it goes away on its own and you don't have to worry!! Good luck!
I've had two blebs but there was a very obvious white spot on my nipple...but it did feel sort of like a bruise. I used hot moist washclothes and then released it. (ick)
Yes, call the LC at the hospital.
