Has anyone done

A cleanse? One of my FB friends just did one, and then when H was picking up some protein powder I noticed a Jillian Michaels Cleanse/Detox on the shelf nearby. It said it didn't have any laxatives in it...so what the heck? Has anyone done one, and what was your experience?

Re: Has anyone done

  • Yup. Its pretty gross but VERY interesting!!

You would be shocked at what is lurking up there.

  • Does it just give you the shits for a few days?

  • I've done master cleanse but could only last a few days. I wasn't hungry, I just had major cravings and got sick of the drink, so I could never committ to the 10 days or so it recommends. It was the one with lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. Plus the salt flush. It took a few hours to work, but then you just have to go to the bathroom a lot. I didn't find it awful, but I just couldn't finish it. I saw some youtube video of some lady who did it for 40 days and claimed she found enlightenment through it. I can't say that was my experience. I dropped a few pounds, but of course gained it all back and then some afterwards.

  • I won't ever do one except for the ones required for a colonoscopy, when I start getting those years down the road. They're just a dangerous gimmick.

  • I have only done the cleansings that are required for a colonoscopy as bluekid mentioned above. Trust me, there can't possibly be anything left after that.

  • I have done the cleanse required for a colonoscopy as well and I don't think I could ever bring myself to do anything like that again if I didn't really have to (i.e. for another colonoscopy).  It was certainly the worst part of having the procedure.

I think MIL has done a few cleanses but I've never asked her about them in detail.  I know a friend of hers did one once and lost an unhealthy amount of weight and has never been able to gain it back.

Ha! This is because she spent the majority of those 40 days staring at the same tiny bathroom! Yikes!

I've never done one. DH did one recently. He says it wasn't horrible as far as feeling bad. Brace yourself for the TMI... he did say that the smell was like death though. I cannot even imagine what lurks in the dark corners of that man's colon...

The length of a minute depends on which side of the bathroom door you are standing on! Photobucket
What do you mean that's the wrong side? Tastes great to me!

  • I have friends that have participated in a several days colon cleanse and they do claim you feel completely different afterwards.  I lurk on a sports related message board and one of the posters POSTED PICTURES of his colon cleanse - holy crap. A part of me was extremely grossed out but another part of me....man. , um, extractments.  It is really amazing the kind of gunk that gets stuck up there and won't come out without a good colon cleanse.  Some of these things measured (yup, he meansured them) well over two feet long.

  • Well, according to me herbal colon cleansers actually work with out any awful side effects. Let?s face it, the modern diet does cause build-up which makes us bloated, tired and listless. Herbal cleansers contain non-habit-forming seeds and extracts like psyllium husk, barberry, senna, etc which when taken regularly detoxify and cleanse the digestive system. Try it, you might be surprised at the results (http://www.shopdeltalabs.com/Detox-Natural-Cleansing-Formula-p/detox.htm)
