So frustrated!

While my in laws were away I got Dylan back on his normal schedule.  His bedtime back to 8-8:30pm and his nap during the day.  Well my MIL is back one day, ONE day and he napped this morning and then this afternoon till 5:30!!  Now he won't go to bed until after 8:30 which throws off his morning again.  I am so annoyed.  Just had to vent.  Thanks for listening.

ETA: I mean I am thankful that she watches him while we work, but I would just appreciate it if she stuck to his schedule which by the way is posted on a dry erase board in his room.

Re: So frustrated!

  • That's a bummer.  Have you tried talking to MIL about the routine and explaining how it effects the rest of the evening?

  • Yes. DH and I have stressed how important his routine is but for some reason it goes in one ear and out the other. But I just keep telling myself I am lucky that she watches him so we don't have to pay for day care every day.

  • That sucks that she isn't respecting your wishes and his schedule.  Is there a particular reason why you want him on such a strict schedule?  M is adjusting to just one nap a day now and won't sleep more than 20 minutes in the morning, but she always has a good nap late afternoon (yesterday, I woke her up at 5:30 b/c we had to leave) and she was still ready to go down at her normal bedtime at 8:30.  Does Dylan get really cranky or keep you guys up super late if he's off a schedule? Just curious.
