I saw Dr. Helmick today, love her!
I was just curious, since you were in labor for 24 hours was she with you the whole time? Or did the dr.s switch at one point? Or do they just call the dr. on duty when you are getting close to delivery?
Re: *Tarah
I love her too - I switched to her as my primary.
She was with me the whole time - she said she hasn't gone that long at the hospital since she was a resident. She was there from Friday night through Tuesday night. I'm not sure how it was suppose to work though - if it was a fluke that she had such a long shift at the hospital or if she stayed because of me.
Long story short - the hospital pushed my induction date to a waiting list and Dr. Helmick spent the weekend pushing them to get me in on Monday. Sunday night at 9 PM she called to tell me I was going to be induced and was off the waiting list. I spent the weekend fearful it wasn't going to happen.
So then she was there Monday for me and since I wasn't ready to push until Tuesday morning she stayed that night so she would be there with me. She came back on Wednesday to do his circ and again on Thursday to check up on me before I left the hospital.
I was so thankful for her being there through it all - but like I said - it may have been a fluke. Or she may just really want to follow "her" patients through the whole process when she can. I know she had someone cover her office hours on Monday when I was in the hospital - but she also picked up their hospital shift too.
Thanks! That is helpful, I wasn't sure what to expect although I'm hoping I won't take after you in the labor department.
I really do like her, I was thinking after my appt. today that maybe I should switch to her for my primary as well.
Those are definitely my favs as well!
