Do you have Memorial Day off? How are you celebrating? (For Canadians -- substitute Victoria Day for Memorial Day) I do have it off. DH does not. So, I'll probably just go for a run in the morning and then after he gets off work, we'll head to one of ours parents' houses.
When you decide you want to read a book for the first time, do you get it from the library or buy it outright? I've been buying them on my Nook. But I just got a library card yesterday (finally made it to the library) and I foresee myself going there quite often. I spent two hours in there yesterday after I got my card and that wasn't even the main branch of the library.
If you could have any breed of dog (for you dog owners, other than the one you already have), what would it be? A bichon frise. We had one growing up and he was the best dog ever. I miss him.
When you go to the beach, do you prefer to read, tan, sleep, or swim? Read/tan. I really do not like the water. When we went to the Dells last year, I was a nervous wreck the entire time. I tried to have fun and went down a few water slides, but seriously, I did not enjoy it.
Do you have Memorial Day off? How are you celebrating? The DH and I both have it off but I'm not sure what we're doing. We will probably drive somewhere and, weather permitting, go for a bike ride.

If you could have any breed of dog (for you dog owners, other than the one you already have), what would it be? I think we would have a dachsund - I've always been such a huge fan - but mutt's are really nice to have around too.
When you go to the beach, do you prefer to read, tan, sleep, or swim? First swim aka bodysurf - I usually stay in the ocean until I'm starting to feel sick from the taste of too much salt water, then read...then sleep. But I always hide from the sun.

Do you have Memorial Day off? How are you celebrating? (For Canadians -- substitute Victoria Day for Memorial Day) YES! H and I always go to the beach with friends on Memorial Day. Then to Salem, MA (where we got married). I can't wait.
When you decide you want to read a book for the first time, do you get it from the library or buy it outright? Depends on my financial situation. I have no problem buying new books. I figure they'll be read and nine times out of ten, I will like them and reread them. If not, I can submit them to Paperback Swap.
If you could have any breed of dog (for you dog owners, other than the one you already have), what would it be? A Welsh Pembroke corgi.

When you decide you want to read a book for the first time, do you get it from the library or buy it outright? I usually check the library eBooks first. If I'm not in a pinch, I'll go down to the library and check it out, otherwise I buy it on the Nook. Usually the eBooks are only around $5-8.
If you could have any breed of dog (for you dog owners, other than the one you already have), what would it be? I currently have a mutt. Poodle mixed with at least 2 other things. I love mutts. They make the best dogs. For a pure breed, I think I'd go with a golden retriever or lab. Labradoodle would be better since they don't shed.
When you go to the beach, do you prefer to read, tan, sleep, or swim? Tan, then swim when I get too hot. The salt water makes me sick and burns my eyes so I don't like to swim too long.

I have a brussels griffon and refuse to go thru life without at least one. The chin would be a great companion. I have one big and one small and hubs loves bigger dogs. We are thinking a Nova Scotia Tolling Dog after my elkhound passes (boohoo).

Quick rant/rave: Rant - I woke up sick this morning and I am NOT A HAPPY CAMPER. Rave - My burrito bowl for lunch is delish! And there's now a 2 in front of the number of days till my vacation, so that makes me happy!

H is supposed to have it off, but stranger things have happened, so I'm not holding my breath. We're going to have a cookout though - smoking some butts (I love saying that - heehee) and doing Eastern NC BBQ. One of our friends who is coming has begged for an epic Michael Jackson Experience dance-off, and I am more than happy to oblige! Also, my folks are taking DS for the weekend (until the cookout), so H and I may get to have a date night that Friday, which makes me happy.

If I can get a good deal on it, or it's definitely the type of book I know I'll read again (history, linguistics, fun statistics-type stuff like Freakeconomics), I'll buy it. If you could have any breed of dog (for you dog owners, other than the one you already have), what would it be? We have a pit, but I'd get either a brussels griffon (which my dog could eat, so I guess that's out) or an Am Staff. The idea of having a mini-me for our pit makes me smile.
When you go to the beach, do you prefer to read, tan, sleep, or swim? I'm not a particularly good swimmer, but I spend most of my time in the water wading or floating out past the breakers. I am as pale as pale can be, so I can't tan and hide under the umbrella once I'm up on shore, and then I'll just read a book or take a little nap. If I go to the beach by myself, I usually just sit and read or walk along with my ankles in the water hunting for shells.

But I hate owning things, so if I read a lot I would use a library. The books I do buy are generally reference, like cook books or DIY stuff, and I never buy without having read through part of it in an actual bookstore.

(For Canadians -- substitute Victoria Day for Memorial Day) I'm off, DH is out of town again (California this time - left yesterday, not entirely sure how long, but about two weeks or a little longer, I think). I'm thinking of inviting my parents up to just hang out a little - they're always off on Mondays, and my brother/SIL and sister/BIL live near me, so it could be a little fun family weekend.

I grew up in a small town with the tiniest library, and now I'm in a big city so I am just too intimidated to go to the library and search. So, I just buy them.

If I got a second dog, I'd want another tiny guy... maybe a bichon, or something else mixed with a poodle. We're actually considering getting him a friend to help with his separation anxiety.
When you go to the beach, do you prefer to read, tan, sleep, or swim? I don't go to the beach often - I really dislike the sand, and the beaches close to me are icky. Well, not close, but still, closest. The water is brown - yay, Gulf of Mexico. But, when I do go, I like to be out of the water more than in it. Not really tanning, because I burn easy, so sticky from sunscreen. I would love to lay in the sun and read, but I need glasses to read and sunshades to keep from getting a headache, so that just doesn't work out for me.
