Teachers - come here!

I'm going to be taking my OGET tomorrow morning. Due to several different factors, I just realized that I needed to take it this summer and just signed up a week ago. So, I'm pretty much going in blind.

Do any of y'all have any suggestions or tips for taking the test? What should I expect?

  • I'm taking it tomorrow, too! I'm glad you posted this because I was wondering what to expect too. I've looked through the practice test and the study guide they provide online, it seems pretty simple. Hopefully, it's as simple as I'm thinking it will be.

  • From what I understand it's pretty much general education, right? I mean... kind of like the ACT for college students? Or, am I totally wrong?

I think that's right. I think it's similar to the ACT. I've talked to a couple people who have taken it already and they said it was super easy.

Oh, good. I've only talked to one person and she said she ran out of time, so therefore she didn't finish it, so she didn't pass. So, hopefully it's easy!

I remember it being no big deal. I did go through the study guide, and spent the most time working through the math problems. When I took the OGET, I hadn't had any form of a math class in nearly six years. I had been out of college for two years when I took all those tests (I'm alternatively certified) and my test taking skills were a bit rusty, but I passed them all pretty easily. Good luck!!

  • I am not a teacher, but I studied to be one and took the OGET.  I remember it being pretty easy.  I don't think I did any test prep at all, and I hadn't had math since high school since I took the CLEP for my math requirement.  I bet you'll pass, no problem.  Good luck!
