Let's get this board moving...
What is the most outrageous thing you've ever seen posted on the Nest or the Bump? Or the craziest thread you've seen recently?
**Bonus points for a link!**
Re: Let's get this board moving...
I think the Irish Twin post from a few years ago takes the cake!
Yeah, it's all over the place, from the ridiculous to the profane.
From the Nest, mostly people who were ignorant about certain religious/racial/ethnic groups who made comments that got them royally flamed.
I remember the realtor. That was pretty recent too. And it made me giggle when our realtor showed up in 4" heels
The Bump has its own brand of crazy. The pregnant woman who made herself throw up because she ate a fingernail full of feta cheese. The woman whose DH left her lying in a bed of cat pee. Irish twins, of course. The woman who confessed she leaves her kid in the bathtub alone. The current gal on New to the Bump who can't do math and doesn't know which of the guys she slept with is the baby daddy. The new board that has everyone up in arms.

I don't know if there is a link to the irish twin thing-- there have been so many posts about it that googling it is hard. BUT a woman posted that she had sex while pregnant and was worried about getting pregnant again somehow. I wish I could find a link-- someone else might be able to explain it better.
Also- this was posted on the birth month board -- a woman wanted to die her 18month old's hair. http://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/52084461.aspx
I didn't read this!
Pretty much alot of the posts on 1st tri.
'If I sneeze will baby fall out??' etc. The lack of common sense amazes me sometimes.
Some woman didn't have a concept of basic math. When she heard that Irish twins were kids who were born within a year of each other, she thought you could get pregnant while pregnant. There ensued pages and pages of people trying to explain basic reproductive biology to her, but she never got it.
I have text for the fingernail of feta, the cat pee lady, and a couple of other winners. But the links are broken.

The bump truly does have the most ridiculous posts. Here is a recent gem:
http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/53321302.aspx
Long story short, this crazy loon thinks if you garden during your 1st or 2nd trimester, your kid will be gay. I read her entire blog during one of DS's naps, and she's a total nutcase (obviously).
What's the new board that has everyone up in arms?
I have a terrible memory so I won't be any good at this game. So glad some of you caught that realtor post on MM before it got deleted, though; that was pure gold!
Also on MM there was the lady who asked if Asian people only liked to drive and show off fancy cars (I'm sure that's one of the ignorant posts Dr.L is referring to).
Actually, MM has a lot of gems, come to think of it
But I'm not really on The Bump and suspect that there are a lot more crazy stories there.
Someone on my anniversary board linked to this: some ignorant chick on the Bump wondered if a vaginal birth would mess up her "pretty vag".
Another: some girls on the Relationship board were talking about this blog of a girl who is going to keep herself holed up in her house for her entire pregnancy so that she's not exposed to ANYTHING.
Here's the blog, it's quite ridiculous. http://prebabyblog.com/2011/05/our-approach/

Haha this is the same psycho I was talking about! She is super insane.
You wouldn't be the first
There is a lot of redundancy on the Bump. A lot. There's a TTC after a loss board, and a TTC after a loss for more than 6 months. There's an IF board, and an IF Veterans board for those who don't want to answer newbie IF questions any more.
Anyhoo, people who have exhausted their treatment options and can't/won't adopt or seek other options (eg, surrogacy or what have you) wanted their own board where they can all hang out together. So they asked the Bump for it. It has caused quite a bit of hoopla. There are those who wonder why anyone who has given up on their dream of parenthood would wade through the Bump to get to this board. There are those who wonder why this group didn't just start a private off-Bump board. There are those who wonder what people are going to talk about on this board that they wouldn't elsewhere.
As it stands, the Bump has granted the board to the requestors, it finally got up and running this week, and they'll see how it goes.

I have to say, the Bump scares the bejesus out of me. Every time someone brings something over, I am horrified, but can't look away. I've read a couple of the craziest threads to my husband, and he made me swear I'd never post over there if we had a kid, heh.
The realtor one was amazing. There was some ridiculous drama on my anniversary board a few months ago, and a bunch of posters left, first for the old TK board and then eventually made their own off-board.
