What are the odds that the same week I get my BFP I also get laid off?? Apparently my boss decided that he wants someone with more experience than me (even though 2 months ago he wanted someone with my experience level), so I was let go today. Hopefully I can find something else quickly. The idea of both me and DH being unemployed as I begin a pregnancy is pretty terrifying

Oh man, that sucks
I can't recall but are you still living in FL or did you already move back to Chicago? I have faith that everything will fall into place and you guys will be just fine. I am wishing you luck in your job search, fingers crossed you find something soon.
I guess I missed your BFP post while I was gone on vacation but congrats! Even with the unexpected job news it is still a blessing.
If it makes you feel any better my dad was laid off when I was born and my mom was unemployed because she was finishing up her college. My parents were scared out of their mind having two kids and no income. Lucky for my dad an awesome job opportunity opened up at Lockheed Martin and he landed the jobt. He ended up retiring from Lockheed Martin three years ago so the lay off he received 30 years ago actually happened to be a blessing in disguise. So keep you chin up and I hope this turns out to be your blessing in disguise!!

Thanks ladies! I'm going with the God doesn't give you more than you can handle approach and believing that something better must be in store. The place was actually a really terrible, toxic environment, so good riddance (lol, assuming I can find something else to pay the bills.)
I am back in Chicago now, so if anyone happens to have job leads here, please let me know!
At least with being laid off/fired, you can collect unemployment.
Good luck!
I wish, but I only worked there for 7 weeks, so I don't think I qualify for unemployment. I just wish I had mentioned the pregnancy so I would at least have a cause of action for wrongful discharge
Aww, man! That stinks! I hope you find something better soon. Sending lots of job dust your way!
