Recs for places to eat in Kennett Square?

My H and I are headed to Longwood Gardens for the day this Saturday and looking for places to have lunch and dinner. We like mediumly priced mom and pop type places- not chains and not fancy places. Any recs on good food?

Also any other things worth seeing?

Thanks

  • We really like Hank's... On Rt 1 at the corner of Rt 100.  Cute little mom & pop diner with really good food.

  • It's not really a "mom and pop" place, but if you are the adventurous type, I loooove Half Moon.  It might be kind of fancy during the dinner crowd, but the lunch crowd is very caual.

PS.. my husband swears by the crab nachos.

Chadds Ford Tavern is another good place to eat. its right down the street from the IL's so we eat there a lot.
  • thanks everyone! i appreciate the recs. Any other fun things to see besides Longwood gardens? any antique stores?
  • There are quite a few antique stores in the area. There is a strip mall of them if you keep going north on Rt. 1 past Longwood Gardens. It's just before the Chaddsford Winery. Which you could also do. There is the brandywine river museum if you are into art. That is across from Hanks (the place one person recommended).  There is also floga for italian food. I think there is also an antique store or two right by Longwood on Rt. 1, on the south side. You could also take Rt. 52 south a few miles into centerville (I can't remember if it's PA or DE), and there are a few tavern type places to eat, one of them is called buckleys. Have fun!
