So, J's boss has been acting a bit aloof lately and taking random days orr or half-days. It's just the 2 of them in their department because they outsourced the rest of the IT positions. Well, J was just asking his boss a question and saw he had a list of "Moving Items to Chicago" on his computer. He is now serioulsy thinking that his boss will give his notice. His company has had a hiring freeze for going on 2 years now and J is afraid that they will either expect him to do both roles or decided to just outsource both positions. The main reason the 2 of them didn't get outsourced before is because his boss fought extremely hard and long to have them keep their jobs. If he leaves, it's a whole now ballgame

Not only does this royally suck but it's coming at a horrible time with the baby coming soon. Even if he keeps his job, he won't be able to take any paternity leave b/c there will be no one to cover him ( the outsources only work M-F 9-5 and half of what he does is after hours)

Re: UGH!
Yes, but I don't think it's possible for him to do both. His boss would be in meetings all day discussing projects and J would be the "worker bee" having to do the actual work. So, there's really no way for him to be able to go to the meetings and still be able to get the work done. He already does at least 3 hours of work each night (on top of his regular stuff he does does during the day) so working even later isn't much of a possiblity either.

Ya, I think that's the plan. It just sucks b/c he's been with this company for 10 years now.

Definitely, and especially with the baby on the way. So frustrating. I'm sorry, friend!
